Ultimate_Game Posted January 25, 2014 Posted January 25, 2014 Here are the records of 5 batsmen in List A cricket. Surprizingly the top 3 on the list averaging in mid 30s are in the national team whereas the two guys averaging in 50s are actually languishing at home watching the team flounder on TV. I don't think selectors of any country can get it so wrong and I doff my hat to the selectors :hatsoff: ..... MCcricket Posted January 25, 2014 Posted January 25, 2014 Teams like Australia and Nz have bounced back because of their selectors and thinking captains and planning and we are becoming an embarrassment because of them , in tests picking up washed out bowlers Ushant, Zaheer and in Odi selecting Rainas, Yuvi, jadeja and Rahane Pickup up the right players first that is the first job of captain and everything a selectors have to do n have failed for last 3 years, get in Pujara, Jadhav, and please dropIshant, Zaheer, Yuvi forever also Raina is a proven failure abroad, even Ashwin has more class then him, if Nz can play Bennett, Milne then why can't we Shukla, Suyal, Pankaj
Ultimate_Game Posted January 25, 2014 Author Posted January 25, 2014 Our selectors can't seem to differentiate between formats. They pick Test players for shorter formats (Rohit and Rahane) and pick T20/odi players for Tests (Yuvrah, Raina). Somehow they can't get it in their heads that there are 3 distinct formats in cricket and success in one doesn't guarantee success in the other formats. likes of Rohit & Rahane should be given a go only in Tests and likes of Jadhav & Pujara should be given a go in odis (with Pujara in Tests as well). And likes of Rayudu should be confined to T20s till he does something in List A and FC cricket. We can see that but our selectors can't.
GolGappe Posted January 25, 2014 Posted January 25, 2014 You can pick any 11 cricketers and it wouldn't make too much of a difference in India's fortunes overseas. India is poorly led and horribly coached. What has Duncan Fletcher contributed? Why is bowling coach still on the payroll? Is it team India or team Dhoni? Indian cricketers are not allowed to play English county cricket. They are not allowed to play in any overseas 20/20 leagues. IPL means 2 more months of cricket in very batting-friendly home conditions.

When selectors can't even manage that, it leads one to question the whole process. I mean why even play domestic cricket if top performers there can't even get into the national team whereas folks playing for the right IPL team (MI, CSK or RCB) get in without much effort.

Malcolm Merlyn Posted January 25, 2014 Posted January 25, 2014 Dhoni's favourites get to play no one else.Next match watch Aaron dropped and Pissant back in the side.He will give failures like Ishant the LONG ROPE but wont give a promising quick like Aaron same oppurtunities.Every captain no matter how great he is has a shelf life and Dhoni is past it now.
Switchblade Posted January 25, 2014 Posted January 25, 2014 This is a team of so many passengers. Until Dhoni goes we are stuck with his friends and lovers in the team.

Switchblade Posted January 25, 2014 Posted January 25, 2014 a voice of reason. :hatsoff: Even I want Pujara to be in the ODI squad Prince atleast he is much better option than Rohit. He needs to be given some chances so that he can develop his game maybe the perception is that Rahane and Pujara are quite same as far as their batting goes but Pujara can score quickly needs to be given some time so that he can feel good about his game. After 2015 WC Dhoni has to step down as skipper for the interest of Indian team .I used to like MS as a captain but his continuous faliures as captain overseas plus him persisting with players who have failed continuously has got to me.As a player in ODI MS is brilliant but in Test format he has been exposed abroad and as a skipper he is stale boring and negative with his ideas need some fresh ideas and a new skipper after 2015.
tweaker Posted January 25, 2014 Posted January 25, 2014 This is not Indian team. This is Dhoni & friends
FischerTal Posted January 25, 2014 Posted January 25, 2014 This is not Indian team. This is Dhoni & friends in the land of shytebread and BeautifulGandu, there is a voice of reason :hatsoff:
tweaker Posted January 25, 2014 Posted January 25, 2014 The selectors should consider the top batsman and wickettaker in the Ranji season for selection in the 16 member squad.Rishi Dhawan (49 wickets & 400) should have been considered in the place of Binny in the ODI squad

LOL! The idiot strikes again! Yuvraj and Bevan missed test cricket because they were crap in it, so will Raina miss it. There is more to judging a cricketer than your idiotic striking ability approach!

This has been my biggest issue with Indian cricket for sometime. Especially with increasing schedules and a large pool of players in India, you'd think that's all the more reason to make two distinct teams. Instead they look to Raina and Yuvi for tests....how pathetic?
jatinder Posted January 26, 2014 Posted January 26, 2014 Same thing happens as early 1997 when players like Doda Ganesh then fast bowler of india and David johnson are not given enough opportunities . players like Venkatesh Prasad given more than enough opportunities.Same Rules are followed.
