asterix Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 Based on what I have seen of Indian cricket' date=' there is no point in relying on seamers. When we bat first, look to get 330 and when we chase, look to chase 330. If the pitch is slow, play 3 spinners. This is the only way we can win games.[/quote'] Are you Dhoni in disguise? Look to get 330? Look to chase 330? You can't do that against Zimbabwe or Ireland on a regular basis outside Sub Continent... Best option for you will to play all the matches in India...
saneindian Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 How experienced are these bowlers? Has he criticized his batsmen so in the past or has he given them a longer rope? Why doesn't he say such things when Ishant is in the team? If the batsmen keep getting bowled out for 200-220 every other match he woud blame the batsman. Why does he have to blame them when in nearly all the matches batting ends up with 270+?
asterix Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 A captain who knows nothing but to blame others... :giggle:
div Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 Has he criticized his batsmen so in the past or has he given them a longer rope? An infuriated Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni has blasted his batsmen for “playing to the gallery rather than for the country†after the home team slumped to a three-wcket defeat at the hands of South Africa in a thrilling World Cup Group B encounter here. http://www.thehindu.com/sport/cricket/article1534228.ece

Our seamers will fail to defend anything below 330 and will fail to restrict opposition to anything below 330. Mind you, NZ are not a particularly good side even though we made them look great. They are ranked No.8 and only drew 2-2 against West Indies recently at home. There are sides like Australia, South Africa, England who will easily score 350 against India in every game.
Sean Bradley Posted January 29, 2014 Author Posted January 29, 2014 It's pretty safe to call them shite. Even when some of these guys start well' date=' they end up being shite only. The same drama continues.[/quote'] Why do they end up being Shite? If Ganguly wouldnt have given opportunities, we wouldnt have discovered a Zaheer Khan. Why is it that only in the reign of MSD we are completely out of sorts in the fast bowling department? We have traditionally never produced great fast bowlers, but we always had guys who could step up when need be, Likes of Srinath & Prasad under Azhar and Zaheer Khan & Agarkar under Ganguly. The key is to give the right people the right opportunities at the right time. If only the management i.e the captain, the coach, and selectors have made correct changes at some key moments we wouldn't have struggled in such a humiliating manner. We missed a trick in SA, Dropping Ishant Sharma and giving opportunity to I Pandey & Varun Aaron in SA Test & ODI respectively. What we did instead was we continued with Ishant Sharma and brought in Mohit Sharma in SA ODI's. Mohit Sharma got tonked in a couple of matches, then we played a rusty U. Yadav for next couple, shattered his confidence, then dropped him from the test matches and continued with Ishant Sharma again :cantstop:. Give me a break, come on !!
Marut Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 Talking of MSD's blatant blaming of fast bowlers and using of brains in the media, i seriously summon MSD with few questions myself, talking about using brains MSD.... What kind of a brainy captain would play 2 spinners in conditions favoring fast bowlers? What kind of a brainy captain would make your No.1 batsman change position and fiddle with the batting order in a must win match? What intelligent example are you setting persevering with Ishant Sharma over and over again when the entire country thinks that the guy should make way for someone more deserving. Where were your brains when we needed 80 odd runs from last 15 overs to win a test match away from home against West Indies ? Only those two spinners gave us any sort of chance, by keeping things tight. Do we have four seamers? Really, even the 2nd choice seamer is going at 6+ in all the matches we played without wickets also.

Srini Mama is working towards that @ playing all matches in India.

While I would agree that there is a bit of mismanagement in handling fast bowlers under MSD, I am not sure that I agree with the examples you have stated. For all you know, Pandey and Aaron would have got hammered there (the way Aaron has got hammered here). It's already pretty much clear that Umesh Yadav is as useless as they come in ODIs, and should only be preserved for Tests. The fact of the matter is - We are staring at a bare cupboard, and our bowlers will keep conceding 300+ runs in every alternate match. And most of our so-called tailunted bowlers have actually got enough opportunities and have flattered to deceive. Zak, Srinath and Kapil are simply exceptions that prove the rule.
saneindian Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 dhoni's attitude is becoming like a fat chugalkhor auntie!! But does that give our pacers the license to bowl rubbish and continue to leak 300+ runs with regularity?

Again as i said, you cant discover bowlers unless you give them opportunities, and well a bare cupbaord, i would say its a cupbaord full of Dhoni favorites.

ThePhenomenal1 Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 just hope our pacers perservere and improve. we could have a quality attack but its hindered by traditional indian thinking and lack of experience.
Magneto Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 Again as i said' date=' you cant discover bowlers unless you give them opportunities, and well a bare cupbaord, i would say its a cupbaord full of Dhoni favorites.[/quote'] It's up to the bowlers also to make the most of every opportunity they get. Bowling rubbish in limited opportunities will not give them the long rope. I am sure most of them bowl rubbish in the nets too, because of which Dhoni gives them the cold shoulder.
Detonator Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 If Vennai komar, or pissant or mohit sharma fails they are crap. if umesh, bhuvi or shami fails, then Dhoni didn't use them properly and destroyed their kaanpidance. Most "fans" here have their own favs just like dhoni. New levels of Fan dumb and hate dumb :haha:
rkt.india Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 Our biggest problem is experience. We all have all rookie bowlers, very early in their international careers. Any team whose bowlers are doing well have some experienced bowlers to make up for inexperience of new bowlers. This has always been a problem with us and the reason we are never able to create an attack rather we have random bowlers picked alternatively in every series. We will see some different bowlers playing for us in Asia. We play new bowlers them but never let them settled. There is always a danger for them to be dropped after a single bad game. I would like Zak in ODI squad rather than in tests where he can bowl at least 10 full intensity overs in 3 spells rather than bowling 30-40 overs in a test with intensity going down in every spell.
