Rebel Agent Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 It's 2014 and we still have dowry related deaths and women being tortured for giving birth to a girl. It must take backwardness, uncouth behavior of megalithic proportion to commit these crimes. >> CNN article <<< Disgusting, India only gets better and better.
beetle Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 @The title of the thread - easily. I am not sure what drives this though - is it the worry that u wont have anybody by your side '24/7' as u age - is it that u worry for her 'cause u perceive her to be weak or alternatively the 'society' that we live in doesn't make it easy. Does it all add up and people get overwhelmed and take the wrong-easier way out? The most important reason is that boys are considered investments for old age. They also get dowry .Girls are considered "paraya dhan" who will go and take care of someone else's parents + they have to be given dowry at the time of marriage and sometimes through out life. Our so called culture is pretty sick and rotting.
beetle Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 Yeah guys are considered investments for old age true but the dowry bit is completely beyond me I cannot wrap myself around the fact that this thing exists even today. For me nothing is more unbelievable - this is precisely why people need to get out a bit more - travel move around and not get stuck in one place/few options if its an arranged marriage that one is looking for. You will be surprised how many people travel around the world...get a tag of "well traveled boy"and expect a bigger dowry....

Wonder, when will this **** stop :|
beetle Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 Don't understand this nation business. Do you mean to say everyone including you in this nation is scummy, the lowest of the low? In that case, at least you agree with this assessment, considering it's your own, even if it sounds typical uneducated garbage to me. Forget what I think about your scummy nation verdict though. I hope you are going to do something about yourself being so scummy? Perhaps remove your stinking presence from this site, maybe from the earth itself. I mean it must be unbearable to live knowing you're scummy. No ...not everyone in the nation. But when it is so widespread that it becomes a national disease...when millions of girls go missing because they have not even been allowed to be born...then we as a nation should call ourself a **** nation. I don't indulge in corruption ....but we are a corrupt nation. I don't throw stuff on the roads but we still are a dirty country.Same way. And may be I have strong opinions on this issue because I am a mother of a daughter who is the centre of my life and hence find it sickening how people can go to such depths that they have no qualms about killing their own little helpless child . As for taking my presence of the site...I was here long before you were. You have a problem you can take your stinking presence from this site. I am not going anywhere.
beetle Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 Oh I see. So you're in the business of playing holier than thou on internets and slagging people whose circumstances you wouldn't know or care to know. How bold and courageous of you. What are the circumstances that justify killing or mourning daughters? Please do tell this world. What do you expect me to do...go about telling people to not kill their daughters? I love my child,My parents love their daughters. No one gives or takes dowry.I don't come from a community that encourages dowry. I come from a state with a better female male ratio. We are doing our bit. As for debating this issue...I would do it with you if you had some manners.
randomGuy Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 Indias sex ratio is quite bad. Chinas ratio has been worse than indias. Now china has improved and both india China's sex ratio is equal at 1.12 males born per female child born
Raghav_12 Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 Indias sex ratio is quite bad. Chinas ratio has been worse than indias. Now china has improved and both india China's sex ratio is equal at 1.12 males born per female child born Sex ratio is not that straight forward thing as it is presented. Naturally, without any kind of intervention, number of females born for per thousand males would be 940. So in a society where mortality rates of males and females are absolutely equal, society would have a sex ratio of 940 females for per 1000 males. But in all countries, bar none, mortality rates of males would be higher than females and so number of females keep increasing as population grows. So if a society has equal gender ratio or in favor of females, that would mean men of that society are dying much younger than women of that society. Not denying that despicable practice of female feticide present in some sections of the society in country, but wanted to give numbers some perspective before they are used.
beetle Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 Dhoond dhoond kar beetiyan maaro.....and there is nothing wrong? It is called selective genocide. Anyways....now we know why we are this **** country. Seriously.....you should be ashamed . End of discussion.

For 60+ yr old population, there are more women than men in india and sex ratio for tht age group is <1
randomGuy Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 Sex ratio is the worst in some most prosperous states of india talking abt my family, my late grandmother got one foetus of my aunt aborted after two daughters coz she wanted a son EDIT : Pathetic attitude
randomGuy Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 This is the dish you get when lack of comprehension is stewed with sackfuls of self righteousness on the stove of a broadband connection. female foeticide is even more in affluent families. Its not murder but it clearly tells tht our culture sucks massively in this respect
Brainfade Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 With the requisite exceptions for rape, incest or danger to mother's life, female feticide is abominable. So is male feticide.
Muloghonto Posted February 5, 2014 Posted February 5, 2014 There's no 'killings of daughters' like you've been foolishly repeating. Unless you're from the USA with an extreme right wing disposition' date=' the foetus is not a person and hence not a daughter, yet. So there's no killing of daughters. [/quote'] And unless you are from the US and from the extreme left wing, a foetus *is* a person the moment it has brain function. There are no countries in the world where you can simply walk in and abort an 8 month old foetus just because you felt like it. Late term abortions are done in extreme circumstances, usually to do with medical complications. Why ? because by then, the foetus has brain function and is therefore, a person with rights. This is more or less hogwash. India has about 10 million more men than women. In the next few decades, it will be even more, almost China-like. 'Can't marry your daughter off' is simply not a reason, given that the sex ratio makes every single women marrigable but not every single guy can get married in India without polyandry being legalised.

We are talking abt selective foeticide of foetus because it is female.:) Unwanted pregnancy can happen many times and so, foeticide/abortion is fine imo

You will be surprised to know that in many villages Polyandry is already started . The main reasons are shortage of women and land holding become smaller . 2-3 brothers till the farm land ,marry a single woman and raise the family .dividing land further between brothers will make land economically unviable. Many times society creates problems itself and then finds solution.
beetle Posted February 5, 2014 Posted February 5, 2014 ^^^ unfortunately that is not really a solution. That is more like turning a wife into a cattle.

It is obvious where our differences are. You are outraged about the selectivity. I am outraged about feticide itself.
