Austin 3:!6 Posted April 2, 2014 Posted April 2, 2014 Its tough to choose between Shami and Mohit, whom to play in semis. The conditions are favoring seamers with bit of swing initially. Mohit is a good new ball bowler and Shami bowls well at death. Can't we play 3 seamers (Bhuv, Shami & Mohit) and drop an out of form Jaddu. He has done nothing with ball so far and his batting is not required. I would be tempted with this move. What you guys think?
Dil Dil India Posted April 2, 2014 Posted April 2, 2014 We need Jadeja's batting. We've not needed it thus far but it doesn't mean we won't. Dhoni and Yuvraj aside(if he is not injured); India don't really have out and out big hitters. While Jadeja is no Gayle, he does offer us a bit of hitting power at the death. Spin is the way to go against SA anyway. Not really confident that Mohit will do wonders. Fair play he did well last game but this is a big game. It won't happen anyway. It's either Shami or Mohit and I'm reasonably certain Dhoni will go for Shami.

Jadeja has not been good in this tourney with his bowling skills.... Yes his fielding does matters... Any ways Jadeja is Dhoni's hubby so he will never be dropped whatsoever is the case... :giggle:

They're both being tonked by batsmen in this tournament, the difference is Jadeja can bat (as per rumours) and he's definitely a far better fielder. I'll have Jadeja in the team for his fielding alone!!

sandeep Posted April 3, 2014 Posted April 3, 2014 Jadeja is a top tier ODI bowler, but gets hammered in international T20s - especially t20 world cup. I can never forget his dropped catch and the bunch of sixes he gave up in Bridgetown against the Aussies - ruined my trip to bajan paradise :(. He's gotten hammered this time around also - to me, it seems like since he's not that big a turner of the ball, the batsmen are able to take a bit of risk against him and smack him around. Maybe he should try slowing the pace a bit... But hard to drop him now - MS is comfortable marshalling the team having 3 full-time and a couple of part-time spin options. If we need his batting against SA, I guess game is out of our hands at that point. Let's hope it doesn't come to that.

SLICKR392 Posted April 3, 2014 Posted April 3, 2014 Jadeja's darts aren't really helping us on these wicket. He hasn't turned the ball away, viz. his strength, it worked in CT. Bowling around the wicket wouldn't be a bad ploy. Has worked for Tredwell and NcCullum. Should give that a try, since his usual angle hasn't been very effective. Cannot afford to drop him in this format.

cowboysfan Posted April 3, 2014 Posted April 3, 2014 teams used to play out jaddu because our other bowlers were so rubbish,now even ashwin is bowling well because of the pitches and teams are really going after jaddu and he seems rattled and out of ideas.he should take a page out of herath and bowl more traditionally and let the pitch do the talking.
