Cricketics Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 I think it's time to stop criticizing lankans every time and respect them a bit. They have been very consistent in last 10 years. Might not have won any major tournament, but unlike lot of teams, they have managed to reach finals, semi finals of so many world tournaments. They have played as a team well in these big tournaments. Just of that they deserve some credit. We can call their players FTBs and stuff like we do here, but they have done well like us in world tournaments.

Sri Lanka do bend the rules (naming captains, toss, intentional no-balls, creating doubt for clear catches etc.) but then go about giving lectures on the "spirit of the game". The trolls like Siri-chu don't help as they blabber bullish!t. No doubt they deserve some credit and we do post good articles. I remember posting one after the WT20 2012 final (which they lost) about Jayawardene and Sangakkara's lives as kids etc. It was inspiring and delightful.

Then, go and lecture around other people about the "Spirit of the Game" with the holier than thou attitude is a completely different matter.

I think India have done worse by not letting other teams have DRS in last couple of years , that's just pure bullying .

We just beat them and move on. Sri Lanka are notorious when it comes to delaying the game when opposition batsmen are doing well. Just watch how they stop the game, pretend to set the field, have discussions when a batsman is scoring well. Its just a trick to stop the rhythm of a batsman. I'm shocked how umpires keep letting them do this. Chandimal was banned for 1 game for slow over rate(read delaying tactics) in this tournament but lot more has to be done. They cant be allowed to stall the game when they feel like it.

Even the 2011 WC and CT 2013 had DRS both won by India btw. India are entitled to decide on DRS in games which India play. SL or any other team has a choice to not play with India if it doesn't agree on the DRS - no one forces to do so.
