bones Posted April 7, 2014 Posted April 7, 2014 If you can put aside your team's performance which often determines how you rate a tournament, what would you give this tournament? I'd give it a 3. It was definitely too long. The pitches were too too dry and spinner friendly. The structure of the event was poor, no QFs and too much time between group games. Toss was a major factor for almost all the games.
Debutant Posted April 7, 2014 Posted April 7, 2014 I enjoyed it as India played well. There were some very competitive games which did not involve India but were fun to watch. It also served its purpose of giving match practice before the main event - IPL to the players. Overall a good one. 8 outta 10 :good:

QFs , are you crazy. There are only 7-8 quality T20 teams Qfs will mean all other matches meaningless.Personally I prefer top 8 teams to be put in 1 group and top should qualify for Sfs
JaiRamesh2 Posted April 7, 2014 Posted April 7, 2014 Good format, many big games, and over in just over 2 weeks. 9/10 Also very well hosted by Bangladesh from crowds to quality of stadiums ( there a few floodlight glitches). Much better than the last one Sri Lanka. 8/10 But thing for ICC to work on is the issue of rain, because D/L in t20 is just not viable, especially when teams have players down the order who can score 70 to 80 runs in 5 overs!
adi B Posted April 7, 2014 Posted April 7, 2014 is the op thick? 2weeks is long!! lol so is every GS then. bdesh organised the tournament the best possible way they could have, the theme song was nice, crowd was good throughout the tournie. the things i didn't like were 1) floodlight problems in chittagong 2)pathetic DJ's 3)the atmosphere wasnt electrifying,it was a bit drab as opposed to 2007 saf,2011 india,2009 england. overall i'll give 6/10 :nice:
NareshK Posted April 7, 2014 Posted April 7, 2014 This tournament was well conducted by Bangladesh. Good crowds and atmosphere. Did most things right. 9/10
Iconoclast Posted April 7, 2014 Posted April 7, 2014 mehhh ... short boundaries ... tracks that heavily favored slow bowlers ... good entertainment but not real cricket.
Rotating Potato Posted April 7, 2014 Posted April 7, 2014 It was ok. Crowd was good. But that is all. 6.5/10. First t20 cup organised in SA was the best.

No need to compare the 2 sports. If I feel the tournament is too long, then that's my opinion. Cricket players should quite easily be able to play 4 matches in a week. Which didn't happen here and for me, was too long. Cricket overall as a sport is declining. It's part of the reason why my interest in tennis went from being a semi interested viewer to someone who cannot wait for each masters event let alone the slams.
Zero_Unit Posted April 7, 2014 Posted April 7, 2014 I would have liked it more if it was a 4 group team. The associates did not get justice. Some played really well. Neatherland really surprised me this year. If ireland went through aswell, they too would have probably made a upset or 2. From next tournament on, it is a must for the associates to participate.
Pakistan Posted April 8, 2014 Posted April 8, 2014 8/10 for me and best thing was Maxwell's beastly batting against Pakistan and West Indies. Took points off for the foolish songs played during the matches.
Haarkarjeetgaye Posted April 8, 2014 Posted April 8, 2014 3 / 10. Have been saying all along even when India was unbeaten. this has been a very boring and long t 20. Unfinished Semi final was a small cherry on the top.
rajmarie Posted April 8, 2014 Posted April 8, 2014 6 out of 10. Dew was a big factor. Plus groups should have another associate nation to allow them to make more upset. BD hosting looked good. No issues there except the power cuts. Sent from my LG-D800 using Tapatalk
Sidhoni Posted April 8, 2014 Posted April 8, 2014 6/10 Would have liked a tad bit higher scoring games.
Texy Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 Great tournament. Awesome crowd support. Best part of the tournament:
Cricket_Hacker Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 Pitches were too spin friendly Should have prepared roads for t20
Bleed-Blue Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 I would Give it A 7/10 there were some good entertaining matches
sachin34357 Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 7/10 would have preferred 4 groups of 4, quater finals, semi finals and a final. 31 matches in total each team would have played minimum of 3 and maximum of 6
