head coach
Two countries with tremendous corruption and lack of recruiting competence in the recruiting process come together with players who are looking so tired after back to back series. In spite of this cricket assumes a much larger significance than it should(you only need to look at site like this to know). A loss at the hands of the other is going to be considered nothing less than a national failure. Predict the state of fans in this forum a week from now? Cheerful and resurgent or down, beaten and hurt? Link to comment

Ram
The main problem is you guys take sports to heart. It is a past time , not something that should affect your sentiments and emotions in daily life. And the second mistake is , you fall for all the media-hype. The blunt truth is, if India were to stop playing cricket all of a sudden , it wouldnt be the end of our lives. Dont impose your expectations of victory/defeat on a hapless cricket team and then blame them for your misery if they dont do well. Sport after all , is just - a pastime. Link to comment

Gambit
India and Pakistan play as much cricket as any other team today. Look at the Aussies. They've been playing almost non stop since Jan. Atleast we got a lot of games off thanks to the WC exit. :cantstop: So wouldn't say teams are tired looking at the schedules international teams have been used to for a few years now. Regarding mediocrity, in ODIs yes. India is mediocre. But in test cricket not at all. We have lost only 2 test series(in Pak and RSA) since the last BG trophy in '04 and have recorded some fine wins in WI and England. We are a very very good test unit and we should do well against Pak and Aus. Regarding the hype, when it comes to India and Pakistan it is always justified. There are so many memorable matches between the two teams. In what other rivalry would you see so many last ball finishes, 300+ run chases in finals, losing by a whisker in another final, last ball 6, last ball dismissal to avert a last ball 6 and a bowlout(). India and Pakistan always play like teams possessed against each other. It's going to be a cracking series. Link to comment

The tiredness is related to players. Look at the number of players who played for Aussies during this period and India. They rotate their bowlers effectively. They call it injury if they are not 100% fresh. Regarding mediocrity' date=' in ODIs yes. India is mediocre. But in test cricket not at all. They were all out except for ever injured Flintoff. Regarding the hype' date=' when it comes to India and Pakistan it is always justified. There are so many memorable matches between the two teams. Both team are equal in terms of skills and strength. 2. Entertainment is the buzzword that sponsors teach players during this series so that they in turn can reap benefits. Link to comment

head coach
are you saying the matches are fixed or contrived ... ? Boss, That is a good question to investigate and search in google? Does match-fixing still exist in India-Pakistan? You'll be shocked to see the results... Link to comment

kablooee87
Pakistan do NOT play too much cricket. have a look at how many matches the have played (both ODIs and Tests), it's not very many. Heck, aside from the Australia series, I don't think we have any other test matches planned for all of 2008!!! Link to comment

What are you doing in a cricket site, if the series holds no significance to you, and you are talking about it in such a disgruntled way? I have read this comparison about Indian Cricket and Mad Dog Show. I think it finds some significance in this case. Is Indian cricket as The Mad Dog Show and are you chasing a Mad Dog? Every time after a defeat you see cricketers house being pelted by stones or effigy burned on the street. It is because of the mindset that fans cultivate right from the beginning of a game. You cannot accept defeat period and if you see someone talking the other way you call foul and shut the door on him. Link to comment
