This UP result is hardly any indication.Will BSP sit out the next assembly election also?Will all BJP star campaigners sit out of the next election?BJPs entire might is now focussed on Maharashtra and Hariyana.UP assembly elections are 3 years from now.And knowing the BSP SP history it will not last that many days.

Really good results in UP. I am glad that BJP lost most of the seats, it doesn't matter who won but most important was BJP loosing. Now they can analyse and give a kick to Yogi Adityanath type of politics. BJP will have to understand, they won the Lok Sabha because people voted for Modi. Why they voted for Modi because they wanted a good governance, economic development and curb on corruption. Not even .01% voted Modi/BJP for bhagwa or Hindutva ideology. Its year 2014, not 1992. Bring something new, for start atleast bring a better face of BJP in UP. Hate to say it but among all these BJP, SP, Congress jokers I admit UP was best governed during Mayawati time.

You are taking the results of these by polls a bit too seriously. Nothing is going to stop these kacche waale from driving a wedge in the society. They do it not only for political gains, but because they genuinely believe in this kind of lunacy. There is no shortage of people on ICF who believe in love jihad, and these are part of their supposedly educated supporters who voted for sab ka vikas. We've already seen one poster here share his sob story about how is cows were victims of cattle jihad to fund terrorism. Just today lunatics beat the crap out of a vice chancellor who was appealing for funds to help Kashmiris. Adityanath does not say what he does purely for political gains, but because he believes in it. Their baap promotes these lunatics and maintains silence not because he is busy in other things, but because he believes in this ideology and is proud of it being promoted. The danger is getting the likes of Batra access to our education system, where such lunatics can be mass manufactured. And coming back to the poll results, BSP's absence is a big factor in them. Modi and Shah will not be deterred from their grand plan to make a king size ghetto out of UP for its Muslims, like they have done in Gujarat.

Don't agree fully with this. There are sets of people who genuinely believe in lunatic ideas being discussed here but they are other sets of people who really don't care about these ideas, their prime objective is to use these ideas and first set of people for political gains only. Amit Shah never felt need to telling Majaffar Nagar jats to take revenge but did only during election campaign. Didn't he have any eye on political gains? Saying that they don't do it for political gains but do out of their beliefs is like Dravid's statement where he had said chucking is just a technical fault, not a crime. On topic, there is no need to be over joyous. These elections were just for few seats. We need to have this kind of model for bigger elections and that's where Congress leadership has failed India.

Rajasthan results are unexpected but all other results are completely justified because the ruling party goes all the way in the few seats and spends millions to win the few seats. BJP should do what it is doing now. I'm sure it will bring the results in favor of BJP in coming years. Don't get fooled by these few seats. Let see how many they hang on to in 2019 this will show their progress. They won last time because manmohan singh and congress doing nothing for 10 years in government.

Its not a question of hanging about. Its about establishing yourself as a credible party who can form government at the center. You need to look at the general progression of the BJP as a party. When it first formed government in 1998 it was a hindi belt party. Today its strongest state governments are in the western and central parts of India. It has formed government in a southern regions. Even todays results, its exactly welcoming for the congress barring Rajastan. Got thumped by the TDP, did poorly in Assam, did not register in UP and did not register in WB. If anything this has been a victory of smaller regional parties over the BJP more than the congress coming back. The same can be said in Bihar. I am sure the BJP will fine tune their tactics for 2017. But lets wait for Maharashtra and Haryana. The heavily machinary will be out. If the BJP fails to form part of the government in those two states then IMO they need to change tact. Fine tuning tactics can mean multiple things, it might be taking on more allies such as the INLD in Haryana. It might mean picking and choosing in TN. or it might mean they even join hands with Ajit Singh.
