PBN Posted April 30, 2014 Posted April 30, 2014 While the success of a team depends on a lot of factors, a local coach like Bangar would know more about the local players especially considering he was also commentating during Ranji matches. I reckon some of the guys here would know a lot more about local guys than some of the appointed coaches/staff.

So this team will likely stay intact for a couple of years. Akshar's been doing well so far and it may not hamper them but a well rounded spin attack would've really made the team stronger IMO. Plus, when picking your squad, it's always good to have balance in all departments.

kaptaan Posted May 9, 2014 Posted May 9, 2014 bailey : Hats off to our coach Sanjay Bangar. I was a bit tentative about playing as much spin here, it is a small ground. Sanjay thought the wicket was a bit slower and it paid off beautifully.

Maxwell Miller most exciting batters in the t20 world atm..best new indian medium pacer and Murali Karthik with his giles..and MJ to rough people up..very very good team. Unless you have a world class fast bowler its difficult to beat these guys on a normal day..

While their overseas batsmen and domestic bowlers have been instrumental in their seven wins, their captain George Bailey believes the coach Sanjay Bangar had made a lot of difference with his knowledge of domestic players. "Sanjay and Sri's [R Sridhar, fielding coach] knowledge of Indian players has been exceptional," Bailey told ESPNcricinfo. "They have focused a lot on the younger players who have performed, particularly the guys who haven't played much [earlier]. A lot of Indians wouldn't have known about them but they have obviously seen something and their knowledge has been really important, one in selecting them and two, bringing the best out of them." The captain said there was hardly any difference between the two host countries when it came to pitches. "There's not a huge difference in the pitches in the UAE, where they were a little slower. I think we're starting to see the wickets here turn a little bit more, so spin is probably having slightly more influence compared to the UAE. Grounds and conditions change quite a bit but there was not a huge difference."
