Pretty lousy to be playing politics here. Its not about Congress vs BJP here. Or Hindu/Bodo vs Muslim. If an entire group of 40 heavily armed terroristscan move around freely and massacre villagers at will, there isn't much of a government/raj to speak of . That should be the more pressing issue.
So their is no responsibility for government. No accountability ? The NE region is ignored by media and new delhi. We should get more coverage there.

Double standards much ???!!! So it is OK to talk against Modi and what happened in Gujarat. But a riot happens in Assam under congress and all of a sudden what govt. have to do with this ? Read the thread, they are actually thinking of arming people instead of clamping down on the riots.

Read the thread' date=' they are actually thinking of arming people instead of clamping down on the riots.[/quote'] What are you on about? First off, this isn't a riot. This is a massacre. No one has absolved the Assamese government of anything. Isn't it obvious that they are useless. The fact however is that this 'government' doesn't seem to be in control at all: Gangs of people move around with automatic weapons killing at will, the government talks of arming villagers etc. What are you contesting? Double standard would be getting  over the masacre of innocents in a train in Godhra and not calling it the failure of the state government to prevent it. And then not feeling equally  when innocents from the 'other' community are massacred, and you use the chance to play politics.

It's an ethnic riot not religious. And don't paint all Bodos with the same brush. It's similar to calling all Muslims as terrorists. This was done by NDFB' date=' a large portion of their cadres are Christians. They have killed people from other ethnicity in the past regardless of their religion. Also this problem got so huge because of unchecked illegal migration from Bangladesh for 30-40 years. Just a couple of days ago BSF detained 32 people trying to sneak in. These illegals have been used as vote bank by successive govts for petty politics. Now the situation is terrible. Bodos are one of the first people of Assam, they are feeling threatened because of this tribal land encroachment. I don't condone violence but this is a political failure.[/quote'] I haven't painted anyone in any hue.

Bodo representatives say many of the Muslims in Assam are illegal immigrants from Bangladesh who encroach on ancestral Bodo lands. The state has a history of sectarian strife and armed groups fighting for greater autonomy or secession from India.

It's easy to evade saying that the govt. is useless, so the CM and ruling parties are helpless. Assam is run by INC for the last 14 yrs, and isn't it obvious that they doesn't care abt the state. It is a failure of state and central govt. for 14 freaking years of letting assam rot like this. Cry a river but politics has a chance to play, a fear that one day INC might do the same to other states as well, as their italian leader never cared abt India. Govt, arming who? People need to understand that the bodos are as Indian as we all are. The govt. is trying to arm the illegal immigrants (read muslims) from Bangladesh. There can't be a better example on open support to terrorism.

My question is simple. Why give Government a free hand because its INC ? When Gujarat happened, Modi was in power for less than a year. IIRC, it was 5 months. The supreme court has given him a clean chit and STILL people keep on beating the drums. When it come to Modi, his people were instigating riots, but don't you think may be INC is instigating people here ? Why is NDTV coverage so low ? Does INC want all the illegal muslim votes by arming them ?

Are you joking? So you make judgements based on who the victims. Their religion and the numbers count. If it is a significant number of a particular religion, you will show some reaction but otherwise, it's just a ordinary event. Add the governing party, if it is a BJP, there must be some motive and conspiracy behind it but another party, it's just unfortunate incident. I really do fear for the country.

Can you read? What 'judgement' have I passed based on the religion of the victims? Who has said it is just an unfortunate incident?

What exactly do you mean by giving the government a free hand? According to you, what exactly is the government of Assam doing here? What do you hold them guilty of in this incident? From my reading of the situation, the biggest problem is that they aren't doing enough. Similar riots/massacres had occurred less than 2 years ago. And again we have random massacres now. I don't know why NDTV coverage is so low. Why ask me about it? But I do agree, this terror attack does need a lot of media coverage. In principle, this is not very different from what happened in Mumbai on the 26/11/08. Innocent civilians were gunned down by armed terrorists. Only there our "swift" NSG response ensured that the terrorists were eventually gunned down. And here, I haven't read of any kind of response from the state government and or Centre. Again, pretty poorly handled by the state Government.
