http://www.cosmopolitan.com/advice/health/why-i-filmed-my-abortion It was my first pregnancy, and, full disclosure, I hadn't been using any kind of birth control, which is crazy, I know. I’m a sex educator, and I love talking about birth control. Before this experience, hormonal birth control scared me because of complications I’d heard about from friends — gaining weight, depression, etc. So I tracked my ovulation cycle, and I didn’t have any long-term partners. I thought I was OK. But, you know, things happen. I wound up pregnant. Kudos to her for her courage and conviction. She was courageous to not use birth control because would would gain weight and jeopardize her acting career. She had the strength of conviction that undergoing an abortion and posting a video of in the public domain is a beautiful gesture that will empower other women who have made the same decision and improve their self-esteem.

Hate such irresponsible people!!!You want to be irresponsible...go kill yourself ,why play with a helpless life. Such attitude towards something as serious as aborting a life is shocking. It is shameful when educated people use abortion as a form of contraception.Sick!!!

I am pro choice. Better she terminate her pregnancy in the early stages rather than expose the child to decades of hardship because she doesn't have the appropriate financial resources to raise them.

I am pro choice too.But how irresponsible is it to not use contraception ?Such people should just get themselves sterilized rather than misuse the choice given to them. And this almost looks like a celebration...shameless person.Doesn't deserve to be called a human. This is not a choice between vanilla or chocolate....this is a choice between choosing if a fetus will be allowed to live or not. This choice should be the most difficult one a person makes...not something to be so casual about. This is the worst form of abuse of choice.

This looks pretty callous to me. You knew beforehand that you didn’t want to have kids, but proceeded to have unprotected sex anyway?

Either be an adult about it, put in the hard work at the gym and hope you lose your weight or atleast, use a freaking condom. I am pro-choice but using abortion as a contraception borders on criminal negligence towards one's own body and risking terminating a life without any due cause. Or better yet, don't have sex if you can't have it responsibly. There should be a criminal penalty against using abortion as a means of contraception- its no different than criminal negligence, since abortions are a serious medical proecdure and can have lifethreatening consequences. To actively use it as a means of contraceptive, despite not making any contraecptive efforts whatsoever, is no different IMo than people cutting themselves or putting themselves in such serious physical harm that their sanity can be questioned.

#1 : at least majority of women do not gain weight and there are variety of medication which can be tried #2: she could have used a freaking condom #3: its her choice I was VERY pro-life but I guess the American (or republican) media has had some affect as now I dont support abortion after a few months (how many ? i dont know.. i just hope its VERY ea;y) there are kids being aborted who can screech but cant open their eyes but then there are those unwanted children who live a miserable life. I believe in pro choice but I wonder what the laws can do when many women "claim" that they didnt realize that they were pregnant 5-9 months into pregnancy.

You claim you are pro-choice, but the rest of your post makes you sound like a right-wing nut-job. First of all, it is accepted that a fetus is not a human life. Second, how is it criminal negligence towards your own body when it has been shown that more complications occur during pregnancy/childbirth than during an abortion. By your logic, all elective abortions (i.e., aborting any pregnancy that is not life-threatening to the mother, or did not result from rape or incest) are criminal negligence. At least this woman had the courage to come out and admit that she did not use contraception. She could easily have said that her partner used a condom and it broke. How would anyone know that she was lying? Most importantly, why would you want someone to be punished with a baby for making one mistake? lEV9BO4s1So

You were very pro-LIFE? And the **Republican** media made you less pro-life?

To be fair to the women, we may all be a little too harsh on her. Who knows what her exact situation was? Some women just dont like to use birth control and feel that they it genuinely messes their body up. Who can blame them? Having said that, an abortion counselor should know the perils of unplanned pregnancy. So god knows what she was thinking of here. Btw, no disrespect intended, but is 'abortion counselor' even a real job? The sheer scale and size of the family planning/abortion industry here in the United States is mind boggling.

1. It is *NOT* universally accepted that foetus is not a human life. What is universally accepted in the scientific community, is that the foetus is human life in the last 2 months of pregnancy for sure and it is NOT a human life for the first two months of pregnancy. The rest 5 months are 'grey area'. This is why many pro-choice nations ban late term abortions unless there is a medical complication involved. 2. It is criminal negligence because one deliberately used an option ( abortion), that carries a certai inherent risk towards the mother and ignored the option that is far less risk. (this is not about whether abortion is more/less risk than pregnancy/childbirth, its about if abortion is more/less risk than other contraceptives. The answer is decisively, yes) I said specifically that people who deliberately use abortion as a contraceptive over condoms, pills or IUDs, should have some criminal negligence charge levied against them, because they chose an option, deliberately so, which is way riskier than the methods used by 99% of society for contraception, with 99% or more success rate. It is one thing if you became pregnant and aborted after taking necessary precautions. If you didnt take any precautions, then i don't believe you should go scot-free for subjecting yourself to a risky medical procedure and if its after 2 months, potentially terminating human life for being irresponsible.
