Old guy Posted May 14, 2014 Posted May 14, 2014 Exactly what I was trying to say. His captaincy in managing bowlers might be poor' date=' but has been good overall. He's been leading KXIP like he did with the Aussies in WT20.[/quote'] he is type of guy who is always calm and happy ..with young team you need that ype of captain to get best out of players imo
SLICKR392 Posted May 14, 2014 Posted May 14, 2014 lost with them :dontknow: is clueless with bowlers.doesnt change things around or talk to bowlers Point is look at their approach. KXIP is successful this season, because of their aggressive approach. Every single batsman goes after the bowlers, albeit the number of wickets that fall on the other end. It has worked out for them as well. Bailey was made the T20 Aussie captain after being recommended by the Melbourne team staff for his captaincy. KXIP look like a solid unit under him. Has to be credited big time.

But who cares as long as KXIP is winning? :P

mancalledsting Posted May 14, 2014 Author Posted May 14, 2014 He was never rated as a good Test bat on the first place. Did you even watch his consistent knocks during the Aus-Eng ODI series? They sure were consistent...consistently mediocre- a bit like his captaincy. Stats for that series: Average. SR Bailey. 36. 80 Marsh 59 78
mancalledsting Posted May 14, 2014 Author Posted May 14, 2014 That could be dealt with. But who cares as long as KXIP is winning? :P Because there will probably be a day in a really important game that Bailey's antics cost us

Straight Drive Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 Bailey has huge captaincy experience. iirc he captained Tasmania and won the Ryobi cup. he played a match winning knock in finals. So if need be K11P can at least expect him to take them over the line in crucial knockout matches. He also has huge experience of captaining Australia's international T20 team, although they have not enjoyed much success. His move of promoting Maxwell to 3 in some matches has been the best captaincy move of this IPL. Other captains like Rohit, Dhoni etc have held hitters like Pollard and Dhoni himself for just last 2-3 overs. I personally feel that it is good for Maxwell that he is not playing for us (MI) as well as CSK. Those two captains waste their hitters. Bailey has played one devastating knock (40 runs in 13 balls) and other one which ensured they got over the line. He is obviously not as high scorer or as much in form as other K11P batters but his captaincy and couple of good knocks seem to be doing a world of good for the position that K11P are in. Let us not forget that this seems to be the best season of IPL for K11P and i do think that Bailey deserves reasonable credit for the success of the team.
undisputed chap Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 I don't know how much of role Bailey played in sending Saha or maxi at no 3 but the mgmt & Bailey himself have to be commended for it. I'm happy that kings punjab know their strengths punjab& are playing according to it.

That's why you see every batsman come in and hit big with no pressure

mancalledsting Posted May 19, 2014 Author Posted May 19, 2014 another dreadful showing today- could have been a disaster if not for Rishi Dhawan
SLICKR392 Posted May 19, 2014 Posted May 19, 2014 He was bound to fail against Tahir. Hopefully KXIP wouldn't require his service with the bat in the play offs. Rare failure from Miller, as he usually pulls KXIP out of such mess.

undisputed chap Posted May 20, 2014 Posted May 20, 2014 another dreadful showing today- could have been a disaster if not for Rishi Dhawan Rishi has played three important knocks this season ipl
Straight Drive Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 How good was the throw by Bailey which got Raina run out ? That throw probably has taken them to finals.
sarcastic Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 Sometimes someone deserves a place just for that one single throw!!! :icflove:
velu Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 he can come as a substitute for awana or sehwag and can even captain the team
