BeautifulGame Posted May 16, 2014 Posted May 16, 2014 Lol one can't serious sly compare Jaitley with Mani Aiyer just becoz they are articulate. Mani S Aiyer's only qualification to politics is he was a friend if Rajiv Gandhi. Jaitley us one of the imp faces of BJP during last 5 years
Brainfade Posted May 16, 2014 Posted May 16, 2014 Lol one can't serious sly compare Jaitley with Mani Aiyer just becoz they are articulate. Mani S Aiyer's only qualification to politics is he was a friend if Rajiv Gandhi. Jaitley us one of the imp faces of BJP during last 5 years So, he does have the ability to get something done. But, that is separate from being "suave, articulate and well-spoken." The reason we should vote for someone is that they get something done for the good of the nation. Not simply because they are articulate. The OP's argument was based entirely on the fluff that Jaitley brought, not the substance.

Lot of developing including china have said good stuff about him. I think he should be in foreign ministry or commerce. http://commerce.nic.in/pressrelease/pressrelease_detail.asp?id=631
bulbul Posted May 16, 2014 Posted May 16, 2014 As Sheshadri said in NDTV, Jaitley took a risk. Also Jaitly himself said his loss is a drop in ocean & similer sentiments expressed by Amit shah.

Mariyam Posted May 16, 2014 Posted May 16, 2014 You don know much about how G8 takes advantage of developing nations do you ? And the G8 are so mesmerized by Jaitley's superfluous oratory that they decide to not take advantage of developing nations again?
Brainfade Posted May 16, 2014 Posted May 16, 2014 You don know much about how G8 takes advantage of developing nations do you ? And how is a speech going to change that?

Brainfade Posted May 16, 2014 Posted May 16, 2014 It all negotiations with G8. He did great for India and developing nations. Please tell me how many ministers currently do it. Good for him. And for that, he deserved to be elected. Not for his speech-making abilities. Mutually exclusive.
game_changerr Posted May 16, 2014 Posted May 16, 2014 Hello Sir, What about your sources ? BJP < 30 in UP. <25 in MH. Total < 180 and Cong > 125. haha,,,,good question,,,,,he was confident abt his prediction fron 'reliable source'
Roshanrocks Posted May 17, 2014 Posted May 17, 2014 Yup.... why did he contest from there? Anyways he will be part of cabinet...
yoda Posted May 17, 2014 Author Posted May 17, 2014 Bg9Epc8KGow His words speak a lot about who he is.
PBN Posted May 17, 2014 Posted May 17, 2014 likely viewed as an outsider esp. contesting against Captain Amrinder
jf1gp_1 Posted May 17, 2014 Posted May 17, 2014 AAP are the only guys who actually are talking about the drug problem in Punjab. There was no way Akalis despite all the money they spent were going to win against amrinder singh with AAP taking so many votes. Lets be realistic this wasnt a arun jaitley/Modi vs amrinder singh. it was akalis -majhetia vs congress
kabbirann Posted May 17, 2014 Posted May 17, 2014 mixed feelings. Arun Jaitley over Amarinder any day. However cannot bear the idea of any success for the Akalis.
sachinrox Posted May 17, 2014 Posted May 17, 2014 He lost because he was up against Capt Amrinder, would have won otherwise and the margin of defeat wasn't huge so its all cool. But there is some more insights to it, something even more dramatic. Being a good strategists doesn't guarantee success in politics. Here false promises, fake stories overpower the fundamental facts and therefore Mr Jaitley who is articulate, a great thinker, a great strategists in the BJP think tank couldn't win hearts. The qualifications and achievements of such persons are often of very little or no importance. In Indian politics, its the connect with the people which plays a decisive role in winning hearts and more importantly winning votes. Him talking about the financial policies is of no importance to a common tea seller, but taking potshots at the opposition is, talking about how he was a guy from a small town and grew up into a big leader is the ideal plot of the story telling that the Indian consumer is used to listen at the public speeches. Sadly for him, he is too articulate to do that....
Tiger80 Posted May 17, 2014 Posted May 17, 2014 @those saying it was an unsafe seat and he should have contested from Delhi etc - it was a completely safe seat but became unsafe AFTER Capt. Amrindar Singh was announced as Cong candidate. Amritsar was never safe seat for Jaitley. The anti incumbecy against Sidhu, Akali's , outsider factor also Jaitley run his office from late BJP president Harbhans lal khanna's office. That person was hardcore anti sikh so this could had made difference
coffee_rules Posted May 17, 2014 Posted May 17, 2014 Parachute candidate works only if there is a wave (UP) or states like Gujarat states. Punjab had anti-incumbancy and hence not a safe bet.
