What India needs to do well in World Cup 2015

I think there is a good possibility of India doing well if they get a few things right. First, India needs 2 seamer all rounders, who can score 30 or 40 runs and take 1 or 2 wickets in the middle with a decent economy rate. Playing 2 spinners is not going to help. We need 3 more batsmen who can play pace and the short ball well apart from Kohli, Dhoni. At the moment, our batting order is not settled. Rahane, Rayudu havent proved much. Dhawan, Yuvraj, Raina are suspect in those conditions. Need a quality spinner who can bowl well on flat, unresponsive pitches. Jaddu, Mishra or Ashwin in their present form wont cut it. They need to improve a lot. May have to look for alternatives. Improve death bowling a lot. Shami, Bhuvi, Aaron have potential but they need to improve. They are quite inconsistent. None of them have the height to extract bounce out of Aus/NZ pitches which will be crucial in those conditions. Dhoni has to learn to adapt and try different strategies to do well there. He cant stick to his comfort zone and repeat the same thing which worked for him in the past. A lot of stuff to do within 10 months. But its good that World Cup has a knock out type format where a team which does well on the given day will progress. With the right momentum, India can do well.

Unless Rishi starts bowling 130kph atleast with good pace variations & actually learn to clear the field regularly with the bat he shouldnt be picked. Well its up to him whether he wants to play a wc for India as he is still young.

Yeah but aren't we talking about WC here? Problem is WC would mostly have flat pitches with true bounce. Our spinners wouldn't be that effective and Dhoni's run stopping approach wouldn't work. I would love to proven wrong though. England tour would depend on how our bowlers do.Also, Dhoni needs to change his approach. We could have had won the NZ and SA test series had we not been overtly defensive at crucial moments. Having said that, he was better in these series' than his earlier tours.

We will do well but mostly due to how poor other teams are. Saffers will choke in breakfast before playing a knock out Pak can't beat us even if their life depended on it. And Eng and WI are even worse state than us. Despite the win in T20 final u would think will hold some adv over the lions in 50 over match. Think our tournament might finish depending on when we meet Aussies .Might even win the whole thing if we have a bit of luck . But we won't find solutions for most of issues mentioned in OP. That's the reality of Indian cricket

All rounder who bowls medium pace is the key rather than a spinning all rounder. Irfan might not even make the squad given the way he nowadays. Rishi Dhawan looks like he is fit only for domestic level. He plays for North and conditions there sometimes offer swing movement. In Australia he will struggle imo from whatever i have seen about his bowling. Not yet ready for WC in those conditions. Stuart Binny is flopping even at IPL level and he's hardly getting to bowl. We might probably have to stick with a spin bowling AR (Jaddu) as there is lack of options. He might take more wickets than the negative line Ashwin as well as score few more runs apart from being a clearly better fielder on those big grounds of Australia where even 3's are taken more frequently than on other grounds.
