bulbul Posted May 28, 2014 Posted May 28, 2014 It would help to know that bulk of the basic and primary/school education comes under purview of State governments. Centre has very little say in that. Many centers of specialized education falls under respective ministries. For example Medical Colleges and National Law institutes would fall under Health Ministry. So dealing with autonomous institutes like IIT, IIM, IISc and other centers of higher education is a significant part of HRD ministers work, though of course not all the work. That's why all previous HRD ministers lilke Arjun Singh, MM Joshi and Kapil Sibal have been in news with respect to their relationships with these institutes. To overzealous people, there is nothing wrong in saying that BJP could easily have found a better choice as HRD ministry if Modi didn't want to keep things completely in his iron fist. In every case some one can always find a betetr deal. Let use watch for some time & see what will happen..Smriti Irani ssems like a ambitious politician,no way she is going to sit idle.
