velu Posted May 29, 2014 Posted May 29, 2014 i tasted only dhoklas in gujju food and i really like it.. but it looks like everyone hates gujju food
SLICKR392 Posted May 29, 2014 Posted May 29, 2014 Tasted Dhokla once, din't like it but I have tasted Gujju thali, plenty of veggies in it but there were pretty good. Not bland by any means. Actually, not entirely sure if it was a Rajasthani or a Gujju thali.
Detonator Posted May 29, 2014 Posted May 29, 2014 I like anything fish and mutton. Like only desi murgi chicken. The cuisine I liked the most from my various trips in India. 1. The Mutton chop dosa with pepper chicken, paruthi paal and jigarthanda in Madurai konaar mess. This not your bland saravana bavan sambhar dosa or the lame mysore masala dosa you get in north. It's 4 ft long, 2 ft wide with 5 eggs and 250 grams of boiled mutton chops with lot of ghee. They fold it and it will look like the old dell studio laptop. They serve it with 4 different chutneys and a spicy gravy. The taste is superb. The pepper chicken is the hottest dish I had without using chilly. They made it so hot just with pepper and small onions. The best part is your belly won't bloat much after such a heavy food and you feel like a horse after drinking that paruthi paal. Not a single food managed this effect as fast as this :--D. I travel to Madurai once in 2 months or so just to eat. 2. Rayalaseema type Andra meals in Kirthunga restaurant near NIMS hospitalm, panjagoota area, hyderabad. THE hottest meals I ever had. When I came out, my tears were dried. Even the fish is so hot. A simple chilly chicken will roast ur tongue and make it numb. 3. Rajastani thali in a small joint near Ajmer. Surprised with the rice items, as I thought NI peeps only eat chapathis :D. Rajastanis are the friendlist bunch in NI after Punjabis. 4. Maharastra - Missal Pav in a small but famous joint in Pimpri. Very spicy. I also liked a desi murgi briyaani in a medium sized restaurant in chinchwad. They also have a nice puran poli. The awesomenst falooda in Mahabaleshwar. No comments. Just go and get it. :nice: 5. Any French food you get in pondicherry. They have this French dishes made from desi ingredients that even a lot of foreigners admitted that it's much better than the authentic french. 6. The street food in Delhi. Never seen such a variety anywhere.
undisputed chap Posted May 29, 2014 Posted May 29, 2014 Never tasted Gujarati thali but rajasthani thali is good.
