Vilander Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 Sorry but don't get the Ishant hate recently....In Bowling friendly conditions he outbowled SHami by quiet a distance......I am all up for Ishant being replaced by Yadav but Pankaj is not the answer...He is another tundler and on top of it unproven. Mark my words...the forum will explode out of hatred once they see him bowl in an international Ishant is a disgrace of a bowler, what a pathetic record. Worst test bowler to play 50+ tests ever..his strike rate is 67..thats a spinner.
maniac Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 Ishant is a disgrace of a bowler' date=' what a pathetic record. Worst test bowler to play 50+ tests ever..his strike rate is 67..thats a spinner.[/quote'] So Here is the thing....Yes Ishant's performance in South Africa should have been the final nail in the coffin but it was Dhoni who persisted with him in Newzealand and yes it was not right but what was the result of that? He outbowled our best bowler in recent times and our best upcoming prospect....so hasn't done anything to be dropped.....So based on that he earned his shot. If he fails in the first 2-3 tests in England,He should be dropped forever but right now he has earned his shot.

Worst test bowler to play 50+ tests ever..his strike rate is 67..thats a spinner.[/quote'] Ishant is the the second worst bowler in the history of test cricket with 150+ wickets. The worst is Ravi Shastri, who was more of a batting alrounder. So, Ishant is the worst specialist test bowler in history who plays on and on.
express bowling Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 He is 125-130,More in the Bhuvi range but yes he has the height......As everyone says and you yourself say we need pace. We should have taken a risk with someone like Bhumrah but our selectors are not known for vision Pankaj bowls 130 to 140 k even in 5 day matches. I completely agree with you on Bumrah. The guy has pace, bounce , accuracy and movement. Very good prospect.
express bowling Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 The problem with Ishant is that he lacks consistency. Every player good enough to play international cricket , performs once in a while. But, with Ishant, one or two good tests is usually followed by 7 bad ones.

rkt.india Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 I don't think any captain would actually pick all short or medium height pacers without much bouncing ability in a test match. When taller' date=' bouncier pacers are available. Unfortunately Ishant is always the solution to this. It should be someone like Pankaj Singh till we find a tall and fast bowler.[/quote'] Aaron gets good bounce too. He isnt too short.
rkt.india Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 Aaron has a lot to prove...Umesh is a much superior athlete than Aaron...Infact Umesh is probably the 2nd best natural athlete in the team after Jadeja. Playing Aaron given his Injury prone background might lead to boneheaded moves Dhoni bowling, etc,Need to constantly monitor his match-fitness He played full Ranji season for first time, didnt get injure during IPL for first time, played 4 ODIs in NZ. Serious injuries are past now.

He got the benefit of extra bounce there which he wont get here and he doesnt seam or swing too.
rkt.india Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 We need at least one bowler who can bowl 145k whenever required, can bowl decent bouncers and make things happen when nothing is happening off the pitch or in the air. Most Indian bowlers do not have good bouncers whether one is tall or short.
undisputed chap Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 Why are people going on about pisshant. He hasn't played a proper match since NZ series where he was trundling at 120-125kph becoz he was tired. Knowing him he couldnt be bothered of practicing . Even his franchise team dumped him. But knowing Dhoni fondNess of him he will play the first team & will be absolutely pathetic.
rkt.india Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 A quick helps swing bowlers too. Pace certainly affects footwork of the batsmen and that does wonders for swing bowlers too.

Anderson yesterday even on 4th day last session was bowling 88-89 mph.
express bowling Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 Aaron gets good bounce too. He isnt too short. He surely does. He is perhaps the only Indian quick who has both genuine pace and decent bounce. Also, he has the tendency of attacking the batsmen's body. Can be given the role of an intimidating quick. I was replying to a post which wanted Umesh, Shami and BK as the test pacers. None of these pacers are very bouncy as of now and the attack as a whole wouldn't have much bounce.
express bowling Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 A quick helps swing bowlers too. Pace certainly affect footwork of batsmen and that does wonder for swing bowlers too. A very important point which is often forgotten by Indian captains and fans. I remember the Australian tour of 1992. Slowish medium paced old Kapil and Prabhakar , swing bowlers who looked toothless in previous series, took lots of wickets with the introduction of the fast and bouncy Srinath , who was pushing the batsmen on the back foot. But, for this purpose, the bowler must have pace as well as bounce.
rkt.india Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 Shami pace plus swing, BK swing, Ishant bounce, Jaddu control are the likely starters for the first test on June 9th.
MCcricket Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 Shami pace plus swing' date=' BK swing, Ishant bounce, Jaddu control are the likely starters for the first test on June 9th.[/quote'] BK , Shami look like starters , Aaron , Binny should be our bowlers, Ashwin as good a batter as most , far better then Dhobi lol, BK has improved in terms of pace n bounce and if he bowls the same way as we saw in IPL he will take a lot of wkts with Shami it is just a matter of being consistent as he bowls the most wkt taking balls but captain is not supportive, hope Pankaj , Pandey get games to show they belong.
