TCS will hire 60,000 more people this year
TCS has been hiring and firing Tens of thousands of employees every year for over a decade . how is this relevant to #digitalIndia initiative ? :hmmm:

So is it like a portal / platform for various services and information offered by GOI? Must be massive. Not possible to do it.
I don't see it as a single portal platform but rather a set of portals providing various services as a part of digital platform. These initiatives will improve economy for sure. Why someone has to go and stand in line to either get information or do certain transaction. Imagine millions of people not using their cars/bikes/taxies to perform certain transactions in person. In India, quality of life has to improve. Especially in the rural areas, even if this initiative manages to eliminate a need to make a trip to neighboring city to perform a transaction, it will be huge achievement. I am sure some of it has been in place for a while or is being inducted. Now the question is how much they succeed with this #DigitalIndia initiative. :two_thumbs_up:

Wiki pages of Jawaharlal Nehru defaced from govt IP address

Wiki pages of Jawaharlal Nehru defaced to scurrilously allege he was born in a brothel .

"Wikipedia pages of Jawaharlal Nehru and Motilal Nehru were altered. What is worse (is) it was done from a government Internet Protocol address and from National Informatics Centre," Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala told reporters here.

The good thing about most of the schemes initiated by Modi government is that it does not require any subsidy and it is mainly aimed at increasing productivity, infrastructure, skill & quality.

^ I hope he does something about MNREGA. Its biggest scam which has brought about corruption at grassroot level in Indian villages. I dont want to say MNREGA is wrong. I want Namo to bring some transparency. Gram Panchayat elections and village politics have become really dirty. One of the impact has been villagers having more kids as that means number of votes and hence more influence on Gram Pradhan.

PM Modi's 'Digital India' is not a new concept. Former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi started it long time back: Tarun Gogoi, Assam CM

Won't hear about this on Indian MSM.

The Economist on the leaked GOI and UNICEF RSOC report: " Coincidentally or otherwise, states run in the past decade by Mr Modi’s Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) appear to be laggards compared with several states that are (or were) under the control of rivals. The most sensitive example is Gujarat, which Mr Modi has touted as a model because incomes there are high. The RSOC shows that the proportion of hungry children in the state fell from 44.6% to 33.5%, but that remains worse than the national average. Maharashtra next door has similar incomes and has fared much better. Gujarat is also worse than average for stunting (42%), severe stunting (18.5%) and wasting (18.7%). Nearly two-fifths of its population defecate out of doors. " LINK

^ This is age old report where Congress and media was after Modi about malnutrition among girl child of Gujrat. No one else was questioned. Nothing new. Nothing hidden. Grow up. If anything, No one questioned leader of any other state. Just to validate my point check this story from 21012. http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/india/Narendra-Modi-tells-US-daily-Gujarats-malnutrition-due-to-figure-conscious-girls/articleshow/15948509.cms Now, have a nice weekend

It is not an age old report . Though this new data may be similar to past data. The Economist and BBC article is based on the LATEST RSOC survey . Interim data was released last year and final report has been withheld by GOI. The source of most malnutrition data is the NFHS -3 which was done in 2005-06 . NFHS-4 is due this year. We have had a decade of very little to NO Data .

So whats the % change for the states? Surely we need to see where states were before and where they are after. Over the past decade, Gujarat, MP, and Chhatisgrah have been always with the BJP only. Ie there was no other parties with them in governing this state. So what was the the % of malnutrition etc in MP, Guj and Chhatisgrah in 2004-2005 and what is the figure as it stands in 2014-2015. What is the % of malnutrition etc in India on the whole in 2004-2005 and what is the figure as it stands in 2014-2015. These statistics are meaningless, the North of india always had worse statistics than the south of India when it came to nutrition. Uttar Pradesh which has not been governed by BJP for more than a decade is also in the list. All that tells me is not that BJP ruled states are laggards, its just that the BJP have a political foothold in states which did not have good nutritional statistics to begin with.

The news story broken by the Economist and the BBC is not just about the Statistics . It is about withholding of the data and report by GOI which was due for release last year . I don't have state-wise % age changes for all states yet . All States have predictably witnessed improvement according to BBC and the Economist but some states have performed (indicated above) have performed worse than others. For the nation as a whole the NFHS-3 (2005-06) found that 42.5% of children under five years old were underweight. This latest leaked report /data indicates the proportion of underweight children has fallen from 42.5% a decade ago, to just under 30% now. http://www.economist.com/news/asia/21656709-government-withholds-report-nutrition-contains-valuable-lessons-secrecy-and

Adam Roberts ‏@ARobertsjourno Jul 2 Madhya Pradesh cut proportion of children who go hungry from 60% to 36%; Bihar from 56% to 37% so atleast MP one fully BJP ruled state has done well in combating child nutrition. Bihar a state in which they were in coalition with the JD(u) too the impact has been big. If anything this paints a picture that the BJP on the whole as a party has been good in tackling child nutrition.

maybe they are double checking the numbers? I just think people want to drag Modi into everything. Didnt the UPA delay releasing Census number on religion till after the general election? While Maharashtra has done well, even Guj from the numbers coming out has done well in reducing child nutrition. Quite a substantial drop in numbers must be said.
