Teengunalagaan Posted August 27 Posted August 27 We have the talent a good number of fast bowlers in the pipeline, it's not like there is no talent in the pipeline, I would understand if it wasn't. Few I can think of are Gurnoor, Harshit, Mayank, Ashok, Tyagi, Tarmale.. All of these guys have talent, these excuses that they get injured, not fit enough to play test cricket is not good enough, it is your job to get them ready and fit. Mayank has been around for 2+ years now, why is he always injured, why have you not been able to play him on A tour? Why none of these are playing Duleep Trophy, why are they not playing on A tours? express bowling and tweaker 2

Manucrick Posted August 27 Posted August 27 the golden age of indian fast bowling was under kohli and bharat arun and once they were gone our fast bowling standard disappeared with them none of the current captains or coaches understand fast bowling because if they knew a single thing gurnoor wouldn't have been picked over siraj in the second test and once agarkar leaves the new selectors will just end up picking bowlers like mukesh kamboj and nabi Mosher, tweaker and express bowling 3
pramodk Posted August 27 Posted August 27 Looks like Pakistan is making inroads today with slow accurate medium pacers ;-)
Suhaan Posted August 27 Posted August 27 Champion selection by coach and captain and being this stubborn to continue with this attack of Siraj and Prasidh is worth commending Behti Ganga me toh sab hath dho lete hai,but true character/calibre of a pacer is only known when they go through spells like today where batsmen have the upper hand sessions after session Mosher, Manucrick and express bowling 3
Suhaan Posted August 27 Posted August 27 pretty sure the g@@du combo of kaptaan and coach will go about with same attack, wtc is already gone ,don't even think about it when you are sore loosers at home instead use the inevitable cycle to get the new pace crop ready Manucrick and Mosher 2

Because siraj didnt perform and pradish performed relatively better ppl are suggesting to drop siraj. If pradish would not have picked wkts ppl would have called that he is not suited. If you dropped siraj and who ever not performed be it gurnoor or pradish , ppl would have suggested that why this player is playing over siraj whn he won Ind the test match in eng. There was only1 exp bowler in the line-up that is siraj you would expect him to do well than others, there was suthar who is playing his 2nd series, Pradish is relatively new, Saransh is making his debut , you do not want another in-exp bowler in place of highly exp. siraj. You wanted siraj and Kuldeep to do the heavy-lifting when other newer bowlers help them around. Kuldeep and siraj proved to be ineffective. The only thing is TM is doing well is introducing high potential pacers, Ind under dravid and Rohit were never interested in developing players for any format. They wasted time with Avesh/Mukesh/Undkat etc... now Ind does not have 2nd reliable pacer, its well know Ind pacers takes a lot of time to develop but they Inducted no pacer while Ind was loosing Umesh/Ishant/Shami and Siraj was regressing. The bowling line-up and team selection was ok, thing is exp. players who are not performing or regressing, kuldeep can not hold his own and he is been around Ind cricket for so long. The Realist Posted August 27 Posted August 27 Bowling looks pathetic. Where are the young or promising new bowlers? The bowling a decade ago looked lethal compared to this collection of mediocrity & journeymen.

tapandrun Posted August 27 Posted August 27 (edited) 42 minutes ago, Manucrick said: a series like sri lanka was a good opportunity to try new pacers rather than throwing them straight into a tough sena tour You can play new pacers in Sena straight away because there will be atleast 2 more exp. pacers and newer pacer does not have to do all the heavy-lifting. In sc and sc like conditions Ind plays only 2 pacers , so introducing a new pacer as the 2nd pacer means you got have 2 potent wkt takers in the bowling line-up so that new pacer is not overstretched. The heavy-lifters were supposed to be kuldeep and siraj and both failed. you can introduce new pacers in sena as there are atleast 2 exp. pacers in the playing 11 and similarly you can introduce a new spinner in sc and sc like conditions as you will have atleast 2 seasoned spinners. Thats why when ppl suggest to pick pacer x of pacer y because they did well in ranji should understand Ind can only pick 2 pacers in sc/sc-like condition and who the new pacer they pick should be able to pick wkts in Ind. Selecting some1 because they think tha bowler can be good in sena does not make much sense as if they are good for sena then they can be plugged into the playing 11 right away if needed and ranji exp. should help them. Here is the list of recent pacers who made debut in sena , apart from shami , bhuvi, umesh all made debut in sena . Has less than 3 wickets per test ... 28 from 10. Plus is very injury prone and keeps dropping pace. Will be officially 30 in a couple of months. Real age maybe much more. I hope we move on from him. Our current 2 pacers both average around 30 in tests and we don't want another high average pacer. tapandrun and Mosher 2

But there were 2 things going against it / covering for it even before the 2nd test started 1 ) Siraj was bowling around 125 k in the 1st test. Looked very slow in the practice match too. Looked unfit and tired. Choosing a semi-fit pacer is not recommended even if it were Bumrah, forget about a support cast like Siraj. 2 ) In tests in Asia, spinners usually take the lead and can cover for inexperienced pacers. Experienced pacers leading in not really needed. Edited August 27 by express bowling Mosher 1
