going to be one of those spells where he will bowl very well and lack any wkts

Bumrah picks lots and lots of wickets these days if there is consistent movement on offer.

 

But can't pick wickets if there is not that much movement. This wasn't the case from 2017 to 2021. He picked wickets even without much movement.

 

The main reason probably is his reluctance to bowl bouncers as set up balls these days. (  he bowled lots of bouncers in the 2017 to 2021 period ) Batsmen are camping on the front foot and can counter his bowling if there is not much movement.

 

This morning he was bowling 90% of his deliveries in the 138 k to 142 k mark. Getting steep bounce off length and the ball was flying through. But did not bowl a single bouncer.

 

Needs to look at this aspect. 

 

Those angling yorkers at 145 k to 148 k/ 150 k are missing too. Now he bowls his yorkers at 140 k to 143 k / 145 k and they need some movement to beat the bat.

Mukesh definitely will not play another game in this series, will be interesting as to what India do in the 3rd Test, go with Avesh/Siraj or  Sundar to join Bumrah.

They can try Akashdeep. Tall and sharp. Has a really good FC average. In great form playing for India A

I have no issue with this but we cant go with Mukesh in the 2nd and I think we have gone past Siraj now for this series.

Bumrah needs a companion to bowl in tandem with.

Akashdeep has just taken 11 wickets in 2 Unofficoal tests played in India. And scored 31 in the 2nd innings of the 2nd Unofficial test. Has a bowling average of 23 in.FC cricket.

 

Probably around 6'1" and hurries batters. Gets good bounce and Fast-medium in terms of pace. Can move the ball too.

 

Definitely has more potential than Mukesh and Avesh.

Can someone please explain why axars wicket of wheoever the bowler was for the Hartley catch ruled out not out? When umpires gave it out? It hit the stumps so???

 

Why was that not out? Yes it hit wrist and not the glove so I get that part but it went on to hit the stumps despite being outside off. Umpire gave it put so it should stand??

 

Also you cant selectively decide the out only applies for catch?

A better use of non bowling arm will further increase his pace,non existent usage of left arm

If Bumrah is for some reason unavailable then this side does not have it in them to take 20 wickets on flatter tracks.

 

Siraj has been a big let down in tests in Asia.

 

Picking Mukesh was a poor decision right from the start.

 

Our finger spinners are generally Inadequate on flatter tracks anyway. 

 

Kuldeep will be a good support bowler on flatter tracks. But who will lead ?

 

Old man Shami is still better in Asia than anyone not named Bumrah. It's really sad and inefficient that we have not been able to develop a single strike bowler after Bumrah and Shami. 8 years have elapsed since Bumrah's debut for India. 

 

Trying Unadkat, Mukesh, Avesh etc in test matches isn't helping our cause. Our A teams picked in recent times have had Deshpande, Saini, Dayal, Arshdeep etc. Can't they see that these guys are really unlikely to be strike bowlers in test matches  !!

Bumrah needs rest for sure. I think test 4 should be rest regardless whether we win or not in the third.

We have a 10 day gap between the 2nd and 3rd test. This should help Bumrah get enough rest. 

 

And yes, Akashdeep is likely to be better than Mukesh unless he has temperament issues.

Yes,this "temperament" is missing in most of the Indian quicks historically

More so with newcomers,this is why we end up with bolwers like Mukesha in longer formats
