Based on highlights- Mayank has been expensive with eco of 10+ and regards to pace seen couple of 149 and few 147 kmph not seen 150+ kmph

** Dplt20- 10 or more eco is usual for bowlers in that league.

Money Grewal is the highest wkt taker rt now, good swing and ability to surprise with extra bounce bowling high 135-141 kmph , last season as well he was highest wkt taker

Mayank has lost his 150+ pace ,safe to say now

With that ,he goes into the useless list

Yes do not see him returning to the same pace as he did in 1st 2 game of his ipl career.

He has played 3 games so far out of 4 one of which was just 5 overs game , but not able to get pass 150 kmph regularly can firmly put him in same pae range as others.

Think with time or if he settle's into Ind side he too will lose a lot more pace be bowling in same high 130s and low 140s range as most other Ind pacers settles into.

Apart from pace he does not have any other skill, and when he is not bowling quick he loses accuracy as well. he is similar to Pradish.

@express bowling-- said mayank clocked 150+ may have been game 1 but after that he didnt play 2nd game

The video below shows the great Joel Garner bowling an over in a test match.

.... Perfect lines.

.... Varying his lengths.

.... Good pace and steep bounce.

.... 2 vicious bumpers

.... 2 cracking yorkers

.... 2 top of off stump directed indippers.

Young, Tall and Quick Indian fast bowlers like Gurnoor, Mayank, Prasidh, Ashok, Harshit, Tyagi, Tarmale etc. should study his bowling.

....  How he is mixing his lengths while bowling an impeccable off stump line.

....  Not bowling too many short balls or too few short balls ( but bowling sufficient and sudden short balls as surprise ).

.... Bowling sudden yorkers too after his short balls.

....  Always attacking either the stumps or the body. No balls can be left and no width on offer. Nothing on the leg either.

....  And bowling at full pace.

No wonder he averaged 20.x in test matches.

Few things , bowl does not seam/swing this much now and the yorker zone is v.small.

The balls which were yorkers before t20s now looks and regarded as half-volly.

The thing is skill-set needed for 3 diff format is diff. A fast test bowler can add white-ball skills to be good in white-ball. but smiply bowling same line/length even with pace becomes predictable in white-ball cricket and gets hit.

Here is another video of Honey Pratap Singh  U19 Rajasthan.

Looks very tall, hit the deck, quick, gets steep bounce.

Needs a bit more refinement in his action.

@Mosher, @Lone Wolf, @Suhaan, @singhvivek141, @tapandrun

@bouncers pointed out this pacer.  What do you guys think ?

Looks fast and getting good bounce.

Batters are consistently late, looks easily a 140+ bowler, may be more but the quality of batters make it difficult to judge.

He is bowling with effort and some deliveries are just kicking off the deck, impressive.

His action seems a mix up of Ashok Sharma & Ajit Agarkar...I hope he doesnt hurt himself coz he is bending his back.

Looking at the practice match vs SL, Gurnoor conceded a lot of boundaries as captain KL did not know how to set fields for an express pacer.

Something similar might have happened with Mayank.

And this is an age old problem in India starting with Srinath.

Highlights show either wickets or boundaries.

Unless you watch the full match, you won't know whether he clocked 150 k+.

Which is why I picked a WI pacer. They depended more on pace, bounce, accuracy and planned sequence of deliveries.

Modern pacers bowl hood yorkers too.

Gurnoor has a really good yorker. Ashok too. Mayank and Prasidh hsve improved this aspect significantly. Tyagi is quite ok too.

That post was about red ball bowling. And certain phases / conditions in ODIs.

This over was about being completely unpredictable. He did not repeat any delivery twice in a row.

No.

In the 1st match it was 150.x kph.

Seeing lots of 147 k / 148 k regularly.

That is also pretty good if bowled with bounce and skills.

BTW, did you listen to that lady commentator in Mayank's last DPL match, who said that " pace never troubles any batsman. It is only about line and length. "    :phehe:

Pace is v.under appritiated in Ind cricketing system, tells alot why Ind crkt does not understand bowling.

Think it was a coping mechanism when they didnt get faster bowler and who ever bowled bit faster was bit wayward (even the trundlers were wayward too) now its just gone systemic. where they really belive that pace does not matter in intnl cricket in long term

I feel, more than the coping mechanism its the inferiority complex, or the risk of getting overshadowed by the pacers.

Look around the world, except India almost every major cricketing country celebrates fast bowlers highly than the batters.

India is the only nation where batters are overly rated at an expense of bowlers. And these batter commentators would like to continue the tradition. They either never cared about fast bowling, or looked towards fast bowlers as a challenger.

is it possible..Mayank isnt pushing hard here to remain injury free?? where is fast bowler's ego when he is being smacked..

Most of the hits I have seen are either off edges or using his pace.

Mayank is trying to bowl quickly.

Just when we found really rapid pacers, batters are increasingly getting used to it with the help of slingy throwers and speed machines. Now they need bounce along with pace ( like Mayank )

Pacers need to push further,160+ is the new benchmark
