vvvslaxman Posted July 18, 2014 Author Posted July 18, 2014 Whenever' date=' they pitched up they were taken for boundaries. Commies cannot be right all the time. They themselves showed how many runs Indian batsmen scored when ball was pitched up. SR was over 100 for more than 100 runs. You pitch up when ball is swinging which it was not. This pitch has quicken up as the day progressed. All wickets were on good lengths which is the ideal length because it is not easy to score runs from good length, just hit that length and be patient. Too full, too short has been taken for runs, not good length.[/quote'] Only half volliess were dispatched not the full length deliveries
rkt.india Posted July 18, 2014 Posted July 18, 2014 Only half volliess were dispatched not the full length deliveries What is the difference between half volley and full length, not much really, half a meter. When it swings it looked good, but when not, is taken for runs. I have already shown most of the wickets were on good lengths.
vamos_rafa Posted July 18, 2014 Posted July 18, 2014 Going by how Rahane's demeanour is, he would never say something close to what the title says. He's said it in the most polite manner. Infact, the way he celebrates his 50's and 100's is also so refreshing. No pump fisting no MC, BC ing, no mustache twirling just a gentle bat raise.

In Cricket, even an inch of swing and seam in enough to get the best of batsmen out. Half a meter is way too much of a distance in terms of lengths. You have to bowl full, doesn't mean you have to serve half volleys.

Fuller than that is half volley. People here making good length is bad length. You too full when there is a lot of swing. Regarding how batsman plays it. It is easier for batsman to come on front foot on ball is pitch full, so it wont trouble him if ball does not swing and seam movement wont be much too. While if the ball is at good length, it will swing and can seam too.
G_B_ Posted July 18, 2014 Posted July 18, 2014 this is why i hate the media. where has he boasted anything like this?

CSK Fan Posted July 18, 2014 Posted July 18, 2014 While I admire young buck Rahane's innings why do our players have to go and shout out such comments?? Our bowling is no great shakes so why put this kind of pressure?? He just said out bowlers will learn from it?
CSK Fan Posted July 18, 2014 Posted July 18, 2014 Good length balls seemed to be swinging a mile and missing the stumps. The full length balls which England bowled were mostly wide and gave batsmen space to free their arms. I hope our bowlers attack the stumps more and bring LBWs/Bowled into the equation which England barely did
rkt.india Posted July 18, 2014 Posted July 18, 2014 But' date=' you can take that risk coz on these pitches, with the amount of swing on offer, even an inch or 2 is enough.[/quote'] Look at yesterday's game. There was not much swing. This pitch is offering more seam movement. England bowlers went for a lot of runs when they pitched fuller and got wickets on good length deliveries, 6-4 meter mark.
vamos_rafa Posted July 18, 2014 Posted July 18, 2014 he did a mild fist pump :giggle: That's all he would come up with.

I hope our bowlers attack the stumps more and bring LBWs/Bowled into the equation which England barely did Those were not good lengths but short of good lengths. England bowlers early on hit mainly short of good length at 8-6 meter mark, not good length at 6-4 mater mark, and were seaming big, not swing but seaming off the deck, ball barely swung much even yesterday. First people need to understand what is good length. Most of the wickets were on good lengths. They need to be on fuller side of good length at 5-4 meter as it will bring edges and LBWs, not shorter side at 7-6 meter as it will make them play and miss more than edging.

In the process of bowling a length, you would end up bowling a few half volleys also. That's where the edges are induced. And even if it's seam, to a fuller ball also, it would be equally dangerous.

I hope our bowlers attack the stumps more and bring LBWs/Bowled into the equation which England barely did This. You need to bowl a fuller length on this pitch because of the swing and also because of seam movement. Anything shorter, the batsmen can just leave the ball because of the swing or ball will bounce high to miss the stumps. Have to be on the stumps and around the off stump otherwise it will be too wide for the batsmen to play. Most important thing is to make the batsmen play The more you make them play, the better chance of picking wickets even if you go for a few runs. The more they leave, the easier it will get later and batsmen will score runs easily.
