King Tendulkar Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 Who wouldn't have a go at a guy with an avg. of nearly 40 after playing over 50 Tests? Ashwin is a far better batsman than Rohit in these condition. His inclusions will be more ideal. Nope Rohit is reserbe batsman. Thus if one wants to have 6 best batters and drop binny to do this then rohit comes in. If want 5 bowlers then Ashwin is candidate as good batsman. IMO need only 1 spinner, so if really want to have 5 bowlers then Pankaj/Aaron comes in. I think Pankaj could cause England problems
cricketman Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 i think both will play. Nothing lost by replacing binny with ash. Jadeja can still play, but Rohit will have to sit and wait his turn. Virat is untouchable and Pujara and Rahane have been too good to drop. and 5 bowlers is gold, India have been too scared to do it in the past but it is defo the way to go
SLICKR392 Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 I'm not saying that we necessarily have to bring in Rohit. I already said in an earlier post that we have to drop Binny and bring in either of Rohit or Ashwin. I was just replying to Slickr's post where he (and many others before him in various threads) have said things like "bringing Rohit for Binny would not strengthen Indian batting" or "better to go with 10 men than have Rohit" etc.... Playing Ashwin will provide more balance in batting and bowling. Will also let us include an extra seamer in.
PSB_Zone Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 Vijay Gambhir Pujara kohli rahane rohit dhoni jadega/ashwin bhuvi shami ashwin
BeautifulGame Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 Binny has been slightly unlucky with the bat tbh.Got rough decisions so far in the series. But think Rohit have to as Dhoni is clearly not good enough to be at no.6 away from home. Also Rohit part time off spinners might come in handy if it starts turning
King Tendulkar Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 Good win. But there are players under the microscope and don't have much rope left These are Dhawan Binny-should be out anyway, no rope Dhoni Jadeja
SLICKR392 Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 Anyhow, my team- Dhawan/Gambhir Vijay Pujara Kohli Rahane Ashwin Dhoni Bhuvi Shami Ishant Aaron/Pankaj/Pandey
Sachin=GOD Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 Who wouldn't have a go at a guy with an avg. of nearly 40 after playing over 50 Tests? Ashwin is a far better batsman than Rohit in these condition. His inclusions will be more ideal. Oh come dude!!! open your eyes. Rohit may not have performed THAT well in the 10 innings he has got but he is most certainly better than any other option we have as a batsman.
vvvslaxman Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 Playing Ashwin will provide more balance in batting and bowling. Will also let us include an extra seamer in. Also Ashwin is quiet decent in slips if not great. He also drops lol But he is better than Kohli there.
saneindian Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 Same team, no change. If Shami isn't 100% fit, get in Pankaj in place of him, the only change needed.
cricketman Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 I think we could have won a lot sooner if we had 2 legit spinners in this test. Lords yday was a freaking minefield, even Vijay was looking like a psuedo-Murali. Jadeja was getting it to bit and turn square all over the place. Ash would've easily taken 2-3. I think we should back our strengths. Maybe Dhoni hinted at it in the post-match presentation when he said we should focus on what we have rather than what we don't: we don't have a quality seam bowling allrounder. Why persist with Binny when we have tbh a world class AR in Ashwin just sitting in the wings? Dhoni loves to attack and strangle with his spinners when on top, and if we are in a similar position in day 4/5 in southampton i know for sure I would like the option of spin from both ends.
Laaloo Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 Same team, no change. If Shami isn't 100% fit, get in Pankaj in place of him, the only change needed. same team? what is binnys role than? catching on the boundary?

Rohit may not have performed THAT well in the 10 innings he has got but he is most certainly better than any other option we have as a batsman. IIn the few innings he has played' date= Bhuvi has shown himself to be a better batsman than M. And I expect him to become even better as he plays more tests. The same way, I have judged Ashwin to be a better Test bat than Rohit overseas. Rohit needs to fix his annoying clumsy attitude and technique.

No we would have won it a lot sooner if we had bowled our pacers more yesterday and included a 4th seamer instead of binny. It was a heaven for fast bowlers yesterday after lunch actually.
maniac Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 Rohit for Binny and time to give Ashwin a try in place of Jadeja(not dropping Jadeja but just rotate the spinners)
BeautifulGame Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 No way u can drop Jadeja for Ashwin . Not only Sir has a physiological hold over England ATM he is bowling very well as well. Kept it really tight when seamers were bowling well and should have had 3 wkts if umpiring were good. Ashwin will never keep an end tight like Jadeja does and with 3 seamers that is ripe for disaster
saneindian Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 same team? what is binnys role than? catching on the boundary? Laloo bhai, jisko trundler bola usne do 5-ers le liye, 3 50s maar diye. Abhi Binny ko gaali de raho, ye bhi perform karega
Sachin=GOD Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 The same way' date=' I have judged Ashwin to be a better Test bat than Rohit overseas.[/quote'] Rohit has played 10 innings. 2 hundreds and one fifty. Not bad IMO. But those who don't like him (or as most ICFers would say these days "hate" him), will keep on criticizing him and would never want him in the team.
