King Tendulkar Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 Ashwin is another bits and pieces cricketer in these conditions. Haven't we learned anything from the Binny experiment ? That's harsh Fatwin is a genuine frontline spinner. His batting is a nice bonus. Worthy of getting in a lot of teams on bowling alone
cricketman Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 I think a pretty glaring weakness for this team is lack of part time options TBH. There is no batter in the team that is capable of turning his arm over for some quality overs. Dhoni loves his part timers and they often create the best chances when things aren't going our way The Indian team has struggled to find a 5th bowler/all rounder for decades now. But we have always enjoyed more than capable bowling options in Sehwag, Sachin, and at times Yuvraj. These guys have been crucial as 5th/6th options for Indian captains. In England in the past, Ganguly has been vital as our third seamer (!) LOL Kohli is a shite bowler TBH, and we have NO off spinning part timer. Dhawan and Vijay have barely bowled in the FC level. Rohit Sharma provides this, but I dont think it's possible for him to get in the side for the next 2 tests at least.
Sachin=GOD Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 Does anyone honestly think dhoni will change this team?? Binny is the only one I expect to be changed - in fact he is the only one who needs to be dropped.
SLICKR392 Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 I just want Ashwin in the side to fit in an extra seamer. I haven't got much hope in his bowling after the recent outing in SA. But as VVS said, Dhoni will at least make some use of him.
vvvslaxman Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 Yep. Binny inclusion was pointless. Moreover like he was red carded and sent off the field. Yea we cannot possibly call someone who is 5th fastest to reach 100 wickets first in more than 70 years. as bits and pieces of players regardless of where he got those wickets.
King Tendulkar Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 surprised to see all opting for Ishant :haha: :giggle:
zep1706 Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 I just want Ashwin in the side to fit in an extra seamer. I haven't got much hope in his bowling after the recent outing in SA. But as VVS said' date=' Dhoni will at least make some use of him.[/quote'] Three seamers are good enough if they are properly rested. With both Ashwin and Jadeja in the side they will get plenty of rest. You have to also remember that we are playing with 5 batsmen and Dhoni is not reliable in these conditions. So we can't weaken our batting.
Laaloo Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 I just want Ashwin in the side to fit in an extra seamer. I haven't got much hope in his bowling after the recent outing in SA. But as VVS said' date=' Dhoni will at least make some use of him.[/quote'] so ashwin for Jadeja and Pankaj for Binny?
zep1706 Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 Jadeja is NOT getting dropped and he should not get dropped. He played a match winning knock and must be rewarded for that.
Sachin=GOD Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 so ashwin for Jadeja and Pankaj for Binny? Why drop him? He batted well and did a pretty good job as a spinner. Binny should go and Ashwin/Rohit should come in. Thats it.
coffee_rules Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 Ashwin for Binny. We can do with 3 pacers and 2 spinners who can bat well. No need for Rohit.
Laaloo Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 Why drop him? He batted well and did a pretty good job as a spinner. Binny should go and Ashwin/Rohit should come in. Thats it. oh no. I wasnt asking for him to drop. Slickr was saying ashwin and a seamer in. I was asking him who are you dropping the seamer for?
fineleg Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 inspite of all this short-ball-strategy greatness that worked out well today, Saha should replace MSD. It wont happen, so only thing one can hope for is MSD plays a ODI type innings like Jadeja did. Hanging out and tuk-tuk doesnt work in Test matches for MSD. For Tests - MSD will continue to be a big liability. This win wont change that - and all of you know that.
ShebbySB Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 Rohit' date='aaron,ashiwn for binny,.[/quote'] Whom do u want?:giggle:
Sachin=GOD Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 oh no. I wasnt asking for him to drop. Slickr was saying ashwin and a seamer in. I was asking him who are you dropping the seamer for? Oh...ok.
Laaloo Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 Rohit' date='aaron, ashiwn for binny,.[/quote'] so we will play with 13 players now? We already beat them with an inept captain, and a no show all rounder. I
vvvslaxman Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 4th seamer or 2nd spinner who will honi use more.. Obviously second spinner lol. He may underuse 4th seamer again. Ideally you can go with 4 seamers. But there is a chance one seamer could be severely underbowled. Also another thing is conditions.
Fontaine Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 The next pitch is going to be like this one. Pace and bounce in the first two days and will take spin in the last day. So: Vijay Dhawan Pujara Kohli Rahane Rohit MS Jadeja Bhuvi Ishant Pankaj England have shown yet again a weakeness around off stump and the short pitched stuff. Pankaj can do that much better than an ineffective Shami who couldn't bowl short, and isn't consistent pitching it up.
