jusarrived Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 The SA series was the first we played without Tendulkar . The 2 series aftrer that in SA and NZ India showed huge positives , may with a little luck we could have won and drawn both the series . The England series was the first without Zaheer after a long time .We have seen how the bowling has been way above our normal standards . Has the removal of senior players made the difference ? Todays result is a proof of gradual improvement the team has shown since the SA series .

Its same with Any team When non performing players go they get better .Be it senior or junior. We did not phase out seniors we are not so in to planning.just have to change non performing players Like dhoni.
vvvslaxman Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 India has identified its nucleus now. I think "gelling as a unit" is a very very vital thing in cricket with defined roles. All these guys are somewhat in the similar age group. They have gelled better. More importantly some players stepped up big time when India needed the most. 3 series over. Our batting is getting better and better. Now that tail is also contributing immensely we are somewhat in safe hands. Bowling i am still skeptical.

Unlike other teams ,we held on to some of the seniors longer than they should have . The 8-0 was largely due to extemded runs given to some of the senior players . Ideally the likes of Rahane & Virat should have played the last series in England , but it was stupid not to bring them in even for home series . This probabaly cost us the series in NZ and SA ? This culture has to change .
JaiRamesh2 Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 Dhoni needs to go, he is liability to Indian Test team.

Exactly , they stepped up big time , but if they had not ? is it even fair to expect the likes of Rahane , Pujara and Virat score consistently in conditions where even some of our so called greats took 1-2 series to perform .

Lets wait on our batting I would like to see them good against johnson and co they did a great job. Johnson and co #bigtest. our tail might not score as many as they did against england.

gattaca Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 why so ? wasnt Steyn ' date=' Philander and Morkel the biggest test ?[/quote'] bouncing out at 90 mph is great threat than steyn and co and Aussie wickets have more bounce in them.
vvvslaxman Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 bouncing out at 90 mph is great threat than steyn and co and Aussie wickets have more bounce in them. But all our batsmen are better against bouncers than England even some of the SA batsmen. Our issue has traditionally been poking outside the off stump which they have overcome with great confidence.
coffee_rules Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 Need some big 100s from Dhawan, Pujara and Kohli. Other than that, this is the team for next 2 or 3 years.

gattaca Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 no doubts .. i would include sehwag too in the list.. sehwag is like a tiger with poor eyesight but still a tiger.
vvvslaxman Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 Need to see if they will get on front foot after the barrage of bouncers at 90 mph. They are adept. Not like we have not seen them play against Johnson. If you go back to the last 0-4 in Australia.. almost most of the failures were due to the ball coming back into the right handers. I think you are referring to Raina :cantstop: . Even Raina can blast Johnson on a flat road.
ThePhenomenal1 Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 yes it has and there is one senior left.. yes.. ms dhoni. happy for him that he won but after this tour, id consider stepping down so kohli/pujara can prep for aus tour. if that sounds silly because of the size of the task, then ask if you want to win there cause he needs to step up and continue being aggressive like he was at times in this game. dont want another 0-4, we need a pure aggressive captain in australia and no better than a guy who has scored a ton there (kohli)

vvvslaxman Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 Time will tell how good we are. Ya.. but we cannot dismiss them based on Johnson's effort in 2 series. I will be more worried about Harris than Johnson. Either way we have done well against varied bowling attacks across the world.
