Did nothing till the finals of 2011 WC....Infact Q.F and S.F were the bigger games when Capt.Phillips seemed like he was kidnapped. How did he fare in the 2013 C.T again? WI 2011,S.A tied series in 2010-2011 etc etc did nothing absolutely nothing :phehehe: WC T20 2014 Finalists-went missing throughout the tournament. CB series 2008 again did nothing. Passenger in this famous Lords win as well. Most ridiculed guys in this forum Raina,Rohit,Ishant,Sreeshanth,R.P.Singh,Pathan have all contributed to some really famous wins atleast more than 1......but Dhoni did nothing....Even likes of Sir Jogi and Uthappa have contributed in big wins. Cook was in peak form when England where on Top,Smith,Ponting had gun teams though but are in a different league as overall cricketers. Lady Jaya is acknowledged as one of the more shrewd captains to ocme out of S.C despite being a FTB,led a mediocre team well over the years.Current Capt Matthews has evolved into a world class player. Clarke is leagues ahead as both player and captain. Amla just won a overseas ODI series with 2 back to back 100's for S.A and a Test match. Mccullum is one of the most innovative captains out there. Sammy united a maverick WI squad. Misbah is the best bat in a mediocre-above average Pak side So why is Dhoni so overhyped?The closest that can come to being a freeloader in Indian cricket is Chawla but since he is a fringe player doesn't count.

That's a whole point of a forum isn't it? Not venting per se but a valid relevant discussion. There are topics about world politics,terrorism,poverty etc on this forum....is that going to change anything deal with it.....if you have a counter point to prove any of the points wrong feel free to present your argument. We might consider it....he'll even might change our view if it is strong enough

You have to give him credit for this win. I have not been a fan of his captaincy of late of just letting games slip away and his inflexible attitude. I think the fact that he asserted himself on the bowler and made him bowl to his plan might indicate a change of stance from the otherwise docile Dhoni. I do hope he keeps the aggression up and does not let negativity seep in again.

You think after So many years as captain he asserted Himself on a bowler last test .Do u not remember how he asked mishra to bowl around the stumps to clarke and got him a wicket.He does it regularly but when it backfires he criticizes bowlers and says they did not bowl line and length but when it clicks he takes credit.I would have loved if he did not take credit my respect for him would have risen.

Dhoni may not be the most tactically aware or the best captain around.. but he fought for 80 odd balls knowing that was the crucial phase of the match & in the end got the result what he wanted.. If you take the last 3 years, then he & his god father srini mama have a lot to answer for
