Texan Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 Ace Indian shuttler Saina Nehwal on Thursday said she was "hurt and sad" that she was yet to receive the Rs.50 lakh cash award promised by the Andhra Pradesh state government for winning the bronze medal at the 2012 London Olympics. The 24-year-old, who has skipped the Glasgow Commonwealth Games, congratulated tennis star Sania Mirza for being named the brand ambassador of India's 29th and newest state Telangana. Saina's comments came after Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao Tuesday announced a Rs.1 crore cash grant for Sania towards her training. "I am happy to know that sania mirza has become the brand ambassador of telangana and I am proud of telangana but I am very hurt and sad that I have still not received the cash award from my state for the Olympic bronze medal that I won for my country," tweeted the Hyderabadi. The then chief minister of undivided Andhra Pradesh N. Kiran Kumar Reddy had announced the cash award for Saina while congratulating her personally on winning the Olympic medal. http://www.mid-day.com/articles/saina-nehwal-hurt-at-not-receiving-cash-award-promised-by-andhra-govt-after-2012-olympics/15476152
CSK Fan Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 Did Sania get the 1 crore yet? If not, why is this news?
urbestfriend Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 Did Sania get the 1 crore yet? If not' date=' why is this news?[/quote'] :WTF: Saina is Olympic medal winner and she has been promised 50 Lakhs and not given yet. Saina is among the top sportswoman in her filed unlike Sania who is more popular because of other reasons. Ideally saina should have been brand ambassador, not Sania. Now if saina is complaining of apathy from state government, why are you comparing with Sania?
Marco Polo Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 Did Sania get the 1 crore yet? If not' date=' why is this news?[/quote'] its saina not sania
Gollum Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 Sorry Saina, unfortunately you have been born a Hindu in India and that is your crime.
AmreekanDesi Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 Honestly its aj oke to even compare badminton with a world renowned sport like tennis

moniker Posted July 26, 2014 Posted July 26, 2014 Did Sania get the 1 crore yet? If not' date=' why is this news?[/quote'] It's news because Saina didn't get her money. Got nothing to do with whether Sania got hers or not.
undisputed chap Posted July 26, 2014 Posted July 26, 2014 Did Sania get the 1 crore yet? If not' date=' why is this news?[/quote'] Don't know about the cash prize but sania did get herself a trophy husband :giggle:
Temujin Khaghan Posted July 26, 2014 Posted July 26, 2014 Honestly its aj oke to even compare badminton with a world renowned sport like tennis wrong attitude. It is because of this kind of thinking that our medal tally in olympics doesnt cross into the double digits territory.
Mariyam Posted July 26, 2014 Posted July 26, 2014 wrong attitude. It is because of this kind of thinking that our medal tally in olympics doesnt cross into the double digits territory. Olympics doesn't matter. Its a Mickey Mouse tournament for uncompetitive and unfit nations. Commonwealth Games is where its all at. USA, Russia, Germany and China got a grand total of 0 medals in the last edition, where as we crossed 100. :isalute:
