Get his mind and focus sorted then come back as a better player. The problem with Dhawan though he is a hand eye co ordination player with not so sound technique & feet movement. Normally players like these takes longer to regain form, sometime they never regain it back (aka Sehwag). At present Gambhir deserves a go as an opener.

That's a totally different ball game. In test cricket outside the SC he would fail 8 out of 10 times. You need someone more reliable than that to open the batting.

Dhoni is so stubborn that he wants to prove that he can run the team without Gambhir.If Gambhir cannot come into team now, he will never make it after this tour.

I've been Pujara's biggest fan when he wasn't getting picked but he's scored only one 50 in his last 10 innings. that too only a 55. Kohli pujara and dhawan have all been disappointing, but its easier to pick on dhawan for some reason even though he has played a lot less test match than those two.

We need an opener who could give us a good start. Vijay needs a good partner. In SC pitches he's fine though.

We need stability with this young team, so gambhir is a good replacement. Dhawan is miles better than rohit. He atleast has improved each innings. He needs to work on some things but i back him. Best option would be a county stint!
