zep1706 Posted August 9, 2014 Posted August 9, 2014 is it only me who thinks we can still win at the oval (largeely because of the nature of the pitch) It is just you. :cantstop:
King Tendulkar Posted August 9, 2014 Posted August 9, 2014 5 bolwers proven to be madness. Batting just to weak Cant win without 20 wickets but also cant win without runs Must play 6 bats with ashwin 7 and keeper at 8
Malcolm Merlyn Posted August 9, 2014 Posted August 9, 2014 Gavaskar Sehwag Dravid Tendulkar Amarnath Laxman Dhoni(c and wk) Kapil Dev Srinath Kumble Aaron We may draw the test with this team. But with Dhoni captain,it may be tough.
fineleg Posted August 9, 2014 Posted August 9, 2014 Out of the 11, how many passengers are we carrying?
vvvslaxman Posted August 9, 2014 Posted August 9, 2014 5 bolwers proven to be madness. Batting just to weak Cant win without 20 wickets but also cant win without runs Must play 6 bats with ashwin 7 and keeper at 8 Probability of winning is more with 5 bowlers than with 6 batsmen. With 6 batsmen with this line up it is going to be playing for a draw from the outset. If one bowler is off color or breaks down then it will be virtually impossible to rotate bowlers without leaking runs through part timers. 6th batsman is total useless. We don't have no.6 batsman who can score 200 runs to make up the deficit. IN all fairness thank god they didn't pick Rohit sharma. 8 for 4 would have become 8 for 5 in no time. We could have been bowled out for the lowest total in history.

We are hopeless.EVeryone on ICF wanted this line up for 4th test. What did we do? ANDA!!!!Big ANDA
wanted_desi Posted August 9, 2014 Posted August 9, 2014 Ashwin should come before Dhoni, jadeda should be booted. Play with 4 seamers next match since Umesh will be sent as a backup Umesh Aaron Ishant BK

I love your team. The strongest possible in the modern era. Nice and logical touch of adding an extra hostile fast bowler in Aaron.

sensible-indian Posted August 10, 2014 Posted August 10, 2014 That is not strategy. That is total bakwas. If only we had used 5 genuine bowlers from the first test with better rotation there would have never been weariness, breakdowns they would have been far more penetrative throughout the day. For peanut 50 extra runs (at most scored by no.6) you give away 200 extra runs with a tired bowling unit which will affect the rest of the series as well. This was repeatedly said by everyone in the very very first test 1000 times. But he acted as if he wanted to prove a point he doesn't need more than 4 he underused 5th bowler. In the third test he made the dumbest team selection. India is not used to playing 5 test series. especially this line up. Gap between first and second test was mere three days. IN addition to that they had to bat as well thanks to our top order. So if anyone needed ultimate comfort cushion that were bowlers not the batsmen considering you have handy lower order batsmen. No.6 batsman brings NOTHING to the table in winning a test. But No.5 specialst bowler enables the captain to rotate the bowlers better and he can have someone like Aaron go for 4 over fast spells .Unless your idea is to draw the test how would you justify a 4 bowler theory . This is all the more ridiculous considering our batsmen can't bowl to save their life. You are 100% right. Some just won't realize the need for 5th bowler. They would talk about runs/wickets by 6th batsman/5th bowler with virtually no perception skills to look at the larger impact the 5th bowler brings in. Also another thing is if 1 bowler is a total goner in a Test, all is not lost if we have a 5th bowler,
FischerTal Posted August 10, 2014 Posted August 10, 2014 1. Dexter Morgan 2. MTC 3. FischerTal 4. Sachin=God 5. Lord 6. Slickr392 7. Yoda-esque (captain and wicket-keeper) 8. G92 9. KT 10. KT 11. KT 3 KTs to fulfill his fast bowling fantasy :giggle:
Utalk Posted August 10, 2014 Posted August 10, 2014 Really disappointed by Kohli. Remember Sachin making his mark at OT (IIRC) during his first tour. I expected Kohli to play at least one scintillating knock and hopefully he will show his talent at Oval.

Sachin had great technique, perhaps the best ever player in the 'V' region..Kohli is not that good.
Sooda Posted August 10, 2014 Posted August 10, 2014 My changes would be Shikar for GG and Shami for Jadeja
gaurav92 Posted August 10, 2014 Posted August 10, 2014 Get in 12 men and we will still lose :cantstop: Get in Binny in place of Jaddu.

This is all the more ridiculous considering our batsmen can't bowl to save their life. That's some stupid thinking. Firstly, we don't even have 5 genuine bowlers, it's not like our 5th bowler is some bradman of bowling. And even, the overs given to the 5th bowler, it is very few, so it's much better to play a pure and genuine batsman. We won the Lord's test match on the base of solid batting, and imo, you check our recent history, it's batting which has let us down more. The gabbage batting has only made our bowling even worse.
