A number of green pitches were prepared for the Ranji Trophy last season that offered good help for the fast bowlers. It's something that's being implemented slowly in Indian domestic cricket now.

Yes. We have been preparing a lot of green pitches in domestic, but they mainly help seam bowlers and even average bowlers look deadly. We need less green but more pace and bounce. Pitches in England apart from Lords were hardly green, they were hard and bouncy. Ageas Bowl and Old Trafford were pacey with bounce. Lahli touted to be the toughest track in India lacked pace and bounce last time a match was televised.

It's really not that easy to create fast bouncy pitches as you need the right conditions.

I think the soil type/weather also plays a part in deciding the nature of wickets. You can't create fast pitches or slow wickets at will. For example, some of the SA wickets like Kingsmead have become similar to sub-continental wickets and the curators did not do this intentionally as the SA team enjoys no advantage from such wickets.

I think wankhade is the best venue we have as far as fast bowling is concerned...Though it is a batting paradise,but if fresh grass is left on the pitch it assist fast bowling. varun aaron proved deadly against mumbai in last year ranji, with pace and bounce. And even in 2012-13 ranji trophy final, Dhawal kulkarni ripped apart saurastra on one such track with lively pace and bounce

At cross maid an in mumbai. .there is one track which is fast and has enuf green grass. ..Batting is tuf on such a track. There is a different way to bat on that track and all other tracks are patta"s. I have opened for my company and I was finding some medium pacers looking quick n s kiddy. .It was tuf to bat there. I just wanna say patta"s even a weak batsmen can bcom a hero and a good batsmen like KohlI starts looking as good as a pointing or Sachin. Such pitches will only create challenges for KohlI and pujara. I cud bet 1 crore on KohlI and pujara to get fair success but they failed miserably. I strongly believe that these 2 guys are india"s best. If they fail all others would have failed too against Anderson n broad. Only hope is if such fast pitches are used in matches even if they are low Scoring matches.

We need to get our batsmen to fight....fast bowler friendly pitches will train them to suceed abroad. Bcci can get curators from abroad ...They should.

Swing cannot be replicated as environment cannot be doctored to that level. We cannot replicated all conditions of England in India. It is impossible. The best way to improve tackling swing is that our batters spend time in county. Our A team players should me made to play in county as they are just sitting idle in India during the months of May - September. International players will have little time as they have tours overseas.

However, in county there is more swing, at more grounds and over more lengthy period of time. Their pace bowling resources in county are much better than what we have in India at domestic level. imo, a county season in England is the best way to improve against swing. Matthew Hoggard still plays. Imagine our List A batters playing the likes of him. Many other swing bowlers too.

if technical problem in playing swing/seam/pace is the problem, how did these guys perform reasonably against steyn, morkel, southee and boult? even in lords few guys did well in seaming conditions. suddenly these guys can't take a single run after lords. something different is wrong here. still wondering why everyone failed collectively all of a sudden. even 5 matches is not a problem coz the issue started from 3rd match. don;t tell me these guys do not have mental strength to last 3 tests :)

bcos Steyn morkel southee did not SWING THE BALL Much or the conditions were not very swing friendly like england.

Good Step to get Shastri bangar IN .. not sure about bharat arun and sridhar though. But Main issue stilll presists.. What Steps are being taken to Make FAST Pitches....it is not duncan at fault or Dhoni at Fault... Understand the reason- our batsman failed as they cant handle fast n swing conditions..same reason as last time. had there been any COACH or Captain- we would have failed. India did well in the first and second match as england was low in confidence and the PITCH was flat in one test and india could BAT.. In second test ISHANT Suddenly became a Superman. only issue's are Slip catching and not have fast Pitches to Practice. Indian Batsman are good and once proper pitches are provided - we will Suceed big.

Its swing combined with pace, bounce and seam movement which troubles any batsman.[/quote'] Exactly where in india environment conditions are similiar to england- if the pitches are Green, we can simulate english conditions totally. even at other pitches we need to get our batsman to know how to handle fast and swinging conditions....when the pitch was flat in first test and in second test - when the pitch had no swing just bounce- indian batsman faired well... england suddenly created swinging fast n bouncy conditions and none of our batsman knew how to handle the english pacers...with a confused mind they gave wickets to Moen ali too.... it was like england fooled us with conditions with which they are very comfortable and we are not. the team selected was very Good- best of batsman, Good Pace bowlers and master of swing Bhuvi too- only Shammi faired badly among our Pace attack. Varun was very impressive, IShant did Well , BHuvi was fabolous initially and later Average. Pankaj had few dropped chances ad few lbw appeals not held and i beleive with DRS being appproved soon , he could have got mnore success. I do agree that Pankaj does not look like an International Bowler. Spin bowlers kinda Failed , Amit Mishra or Karn would have faired better.. i beleive Karn will be tuf for england to face in ODI.
