Dhoni may quit test cricket after England series defeat

Thing is his keeping has been poor too and he is not good enough to play as a batsman. It is like SRT being 2nd highest run getter in England and Aus averaging in low 30s.
His keeping when he is in best keeping form is average. When his keeping standards drop, it goes below average and poor. As a keeper i certainly don't rate him and is only better than Uthappa and Rayyudu type keepers. I would put him in same category to Dinesh / Saha/ Parthiv / Gautham types. As a batsman i would give him credit though for at least being average in this series when just 3 of them in the batting order did something with the bat. Still, having him as just a batsman playing under someone would not be prosperous for the team. If we cannot start fresh at this low, then we never might get a better chance.

As we said' date=' again and again and again it is THREE years of performance being evaluated. I am pretty sure you do not even know these things as you have zero interest in test cricket. Your previous post where you confused IPL finals with T20 Wc is the prime example. [/quote'] How to you conclude to THREE years of performance? Why not 5 years or say 1 year? And were all our victories, some really good performances over the last 3 years all forgotten as suddenly, even victories are treated as failure. If you still insist and think it is 3 years of failure, you are completely talking crap.

Indeed' date=' When a team fails , it is always either batting or bowling which fails. :cantstop: So a captain is never responsible for defeat as he cannot do bowling or batting for other 10 people.[/quote'] I was also thinking, why teams need captains? Maybe only for toss and reading out Team composition...

That a change in captaincy is needed is given (in test). No matter how big a defender you are of Dhoni's captaincy (or lack of it) he has made some blunders. Squad is given by selectors but playing XI is on captain and he has picked wrong people for wrong conditions.
BS. Let's get some facts right. Each test, we played the best team, at least that was the general consensus at the start of each of the test match. Just because it didn't work out, doesn't mean you can now criticize it. Hindsight is never a good reason. So every test match, we really played the best team possible. Dhoni had nothing to with our batting, our batsman played poorly on their own because they really are poor players who are all over hyped up. Now instead of addressing their hype and getting a reality check, many want to reward and give the captaincy to Kohli because he seems "destined" to be captain. Terrific poor logic. Dhoni as captain didn't have last 3 years of failure, now that's a simple point. We had plenty of victories and were very solid at home. So let's not forget that.

thats a myth.. we did not exactly dominate at home except for the Aussie series

We don't need to dominate each match at home, but yet we were overall very solid at home.

He didnt quit after home series loss to England. Why should he quit now. He will give the world cup as excuse, ignoring that it's a completely different format, after that he will make some lame excuse like there is no one,so i will remain captain

And we have also lost Australia series at home under Ganguly. You see the very idea of taking things for granted has cost us. It's never easy to play England home or away. But some people and fans took it for granted. Dhoni's record as test captain at home is solid and better than Ganguly. Our best test captain at home.

What, never easy to play England at home? This was historic loss so i hope you get how easy it was to beat England at home. Did Saurav had a Loss: draw: win ratio of 13 : 3 : 1 over a period of 3 years? Also if he did, then even he should have been dropped.

MS Dhoni and India have been fined for maintaining a slow over-rate during the Oval Test. Dhoni has been fined 60% of his match fee, and the rest of his team 30%, after they were ruled to be three overs short when time allowances were taken into consideration. If Dhoni is found guilty of another such offence in Tests over the next 12 months, he will receive a one-match suspension. http://www.espncricinfo.com/england-v-india-2014/content/story/771707.html

And next, Ganguly was never a great captain, we never got to any top places under him. So if anything, no need for any comparing Dhoni with Ganguly.

Relevant comparison in the sense that it is often said the captain of ship has to get out last in case of disaster. Dhoni is probably doing the same in this disastrous days for Indian test cricket. He will get out last.
That is a very good example, I feel. He has to stay on till WC. Lets be honest and understand, we would have lost just like this even if Dhoni would not have been the captain. And also Virat and Pujara are here to stay for long. This is what our future is, no matter what. Virat being touted as future leader would have gone nuts with the kind of performance our team showed in this series. I feel Dhoni has to stay till WC. He has to continue taking the hits while our future is secure. And they will surely come good by next time. There is no other way out.

Yes, i have not counted the home series. Haven't i made it clear in the stats that i posted. Overseas conditions are tough and real quality is seen in adverse conditions.

"I'm not happy with his keeping and captaincy. He's got his own mind. He always keeps repeating that. He always expects a miracle. Miracles cannot happen all the time. It happens once in a blue moon." Former India captain Gundappa Viswanath "He's wonderful in shorter formats of ODI and T20s but there's a lot to be desired as far as Tests are concerned. He doesn't have a Plan A, B or C in place. He's very close minded as far as Test cricket is concerned. Ganguly definitely was much better, he enjoyed Test captaincy, he took pride in his performance." Ashok Malhotra felt Dhini's shelf life as Test captain has expired. Dhini :hysterical:
