I've seen very, very few hindi movies from the 70s and 80s (I think only Jaaney Bhi Do Yaaron, Sholey and a few more). Please recommend your favorite hindi movies from these years.....

My underrated movies Saaransh starring anupam kher. very chilling movie and very depressing but a good watch on how an old man mourns the death of his son and fights to keep a pregnent woman alive. Also two other movies of Nana Patekar which I really loved was Diksha and Disha was very good as well. Disha was about how someone from rural comes and works in Mumbai. All 3 are very good watches.

Top of my head - Amol Palekar's movies like Chit Chor,Golmaal,etc...feel good movies - Aakhree Rasta ( older AB was aweome in this ) - Saagar ( awesome acting from the trio - Rishi, Kamal Hassan and Dimple ) - Nice comedy movies like Do aur do paanch ( AB and Shashi Kapoor one )..always wonder why the name does not come up when comedy movies are mentioned. Can't go wrong on Hrishikesh Mukherjee's movies - Most ( if not all ) movies of Naseer ( Masoom especially ), Om Puri, Nana Patekar ( Parinda - awesome movie, Prahaar ), Shabana and Smitha Patil ( nice names are mentioned in a post above ) - Karma, Mr India - Feroz Khan - Vinod Khanna genre like Qurbani, Janbaaz... - Karz, Betaab, Naam, Chameli ki Shaadi, Ek duje ke liye - * AVOID movies of Mithun who was one of the topmost heroes of 80s ( if you really want to see and I really see no reason why you would want to, watch Disco Dancer, Dance Dance, Ghulaami )
