Silva Posted September 5, 2014 Posted September 5, 2014 Yadav has played 30 ODIs, never really shown that he is capable of getting his average down below 35. I think he should be saved for Test matches and Bowlers like Aaron, Pankaj singh, and Pandey be given a few more chances.

What is the motive behind removing him after 3 overs when he was bowling well and had picked up a wicket? What is the motive behind bringing a bowler straight into the PP after not bowling for 20 overs, a bowler who has not played ODI for last 2 months? I am really intrigued to know why he removed Umesh after his one over in his 2nd spell even when just conceded just 3 runs in that over, 16th over. and this is happening regularly with Umesh. Did in SA ODIs too.

Maybe he does not know how to harness Umesh's talent and thinks using him in short fast spells is better. Wrong strategy but certainly not sinister. Would love to hear if someone knows the exact reason Dhoni hates Umesh.

Did in SA ODIs too. He could be looking at it as easing him back to the team with shorter focused spells. Dhoni's captaincy is strange to say the least. The guy's strategy of picking the XI or deciding bringing in part-timers before regulars, etc are all hallmarks of his piss poor captaincy. However that doesn't mean he is doing it to destroy someone's career.

Would love to hear if someone knows the exact reason Dhoni hates Umesh. 1 over spell is a short spell. A guy who does not play regularly cannot get confidence by bowling like that. He is not even confident to bowl at his usual pace. Bowling far slower because he wants to get the rhythm and you do not get the rhythm in PP or slog overs when batsmen are just looking to hit out. He should have bowled 6-7 overs in 2 spells at most before 35 overs and rest in last 15. He had conceded 21 in first 4 overs and even if he had conceded 15 in next 3 before 35 overs. It would have been good for his confidence and having more overs under the belt, he could have been more confident of bowling in PP and slog overs.
