Talks are on in the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to name a series after India's most iconic player till date - Sachin Tendulkar. According to a report in the The Asian Age, the BCCI is pondering over a series in the name of Tendulkar, with the move expected to be stamped in the board's Working Committee meeting on September 26. "It's prestigious. While honouring a legend like Sachin, we have to make sure that we choose a marquee series. We don't want to institute a series in Sachin's name just for the sake of doing it," BCCI secretary Sanjay Patel was quoted by The Asian Age. Patel also refused to confirm if the bilateral series with West Indies, who will be touring India next month, will be the one with Tendulkar's name on it. "It's premature to discuss about it. Nothing is finalised as yet," he said. Before this, Sunil Gavaskar and late Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi's name have been associated with a series. While the Test series with Australia is named the Border-Gavaskar trophy, the winners' cup for a Test series between England and India in England is called The Pataudi Trophy.

Overall Sachin destroyed Australia more than any team in both ODI and Test matches.

C'mmon not the series against West Indies please. I would want India - Pakistan series to be named after the great Tendulkar. Sachin has many memorable connections with parosis: 1)In his first game ever, he player for Pakistan under Imran's captaincy as a substitute fielder. 2)He debut was against Pakistan. 3)His last ODI game was against Pakistan. 4)Most number of ODI runs against Pakistan. 5)3 MOM's in 5 WC matches against them. It will be great series to have with his name associated. As far as I know even Pakistani's like Sachin so should not be a problem from them.

Let us rename the Ranji Trophy to be called Sachin-Ranji Trophy --> Maybe it will make our premier domestic tournament a bit more respectable and bring more attention to it.
