I have seen them behave generally well in India. Its just this one kid who got a bit carried away. It happens. They need to be told to stand away from the rope and not to interfere with the fielders. Being a ball boy will make them feel a bit more close to the game and the players and sort of feel they are part of the game which could be a good experience for them, especially for ones who want to play the sport.

Firstly, It's not a world cup. Secondly, worse crimes are done by umpires who give batsmen who are out not out and vice versa. Take a chill pill. The kid was a bit over exuberant. Its the first time I am seeing something like this. How intolerant world has come to?

Umpires make errors of judgement when they give a wrong decision. This is not an error of judgement. It was foolish. I don't blame him though, he's just a kid who got over-excited. The whole point is that why do we even need them? Most other countries do not employ ball boys. On multiple occasions in the past, they have tried to grab the ball on the fence while a fielder is running directly towards them. That is also a nuisance and could result in serious injuries to the player or the ball boy or both.

They should be told not to enter the field to stop the ball. Ball boys and duty boys are useful to the game of cricket.

i remember the times when the ball boys used to stay behind and were bending down to pick the ball and the ball used to pop up off the so called ropes and hit them on their faces..lots of instances of that... so may be they have been told to pick them up if its a sure shot boundary... but the above case is a mental freeze from that poor kid..

:hysterical::hysterical::hysterical::hysterical: Why don't we get rid of the boundary rope and employ thousand ball boys to be the boundary instead so they dont have to face that such unfortunate case of retardeness of the ball popping up into their face.
