India is not entitled to play as many matches as the SA board wants. So there was nothing for the SA to sue. I don't think idiots like you will ever understand something sane
Precambrian Posted October 19, 2014 Author Posted October 19, 2014 As an isolated incident it does look fair - After all there'll be huge losses and the BCCI is entitled to receive some compensation to cover those losses. But let's consider if it was the other way round - India pulling out of a tour and the host country takes legal measures. It might get compensation in the short term, but will it stand a chance to take any part at all on future cricketing endeavors? Probably not, it'll get destroyed. Fairly sure bcci had compensated the home board whenever it has backed out, unless it was due to involuntary emergencies.

They lost money because of that.[/quote'] Nothing.Because it was FTP and not law binding contract to sue Whereas this series is bilateral binding contracts and WICB would have signed it before the series started.So they have violated a signed contract by leaving mid series and legally liable. completely diff scenarios

BCCI insiders revealed that the 2014-15 season's estimation was "around the same as last year". This would mean that the West Indies' pullout will result in BCCI losing at least Rs 396 crore. This is not BCCI fault, WICB should have honored the bilateral agreement and continued the series instead of abandoning the tour in mid way.

In the tv contract, BCCI has guaranteed a minimum number of match days. Star has paid based on this. I am sure there are clauses in there to give back some money if those number of days are not met. So star will just ask for some money back or take it out of their next payment. Anyway, all this should not matter much. BCCI has always had an extra tours, not specified in the FTP, every now an then. Now they can also cancel their tour to WI in 2016 and host a full tour.

And some lunatics are calling BCCI corrupt, but fail to see the shaytiness that WICB is who reduce the player salary by 80% just like that and want them to play. It is the WICB that put money first and cricket next. Since BCCI has organized this tour, they are responsible for TV rights and they have to pay penalty if any to the rights holders so it right in all senses to claim for what ever money they would have lost because of this abrupt withdrawal.
