Pagalpanti Posted October 24, 2014 Posted October 24, 2014 I don't quite believe yet that he's a hack. The conditions in CT 2013 weren't easy. They were spin/swing conducive and he ended up being the highest scorer. The SA tour just destroyed his confidence imo. He showed some form in NZ tour but again in Eng the whole lineup just had a bad series barring Rahane.
Silva Posted October 24, 2014 Posted October 24, 2014 How is he a ftb when he scored 360 runs in five innings on the same pitches that Ishant averaged 20 at a strike rate of 22 with the ball? Heck Jadeja averaged 12 with the ball in the champions trophy and Dhawan was scoring runs in every match. Also his game is largely based around finding gaps on the Offside with pinpoint precision which is not how you would describe someone with a hackish game. His main weakness is that he is terrible at rotating the strike. Also he is averaging 38 at a strike rate of 80 against non minnow teams in ODIs this year. Test matches are a different thing, I think him kohli and pujara have been awful and the main reason for the debacle in England.
Lord Posted October 24, 2014 Posted October 24, 2014 Rohit did well in CT.That's enough to know the pitches were good for batting :P Also he had novelty factor working for him. Once tEams worked him out he hasn't done as well even in ODIs Still he's decent enough
randomGuy Posted October 24, 2014 Posted October 24, 2014 contact me after his performence in WC2015 Done. Hope you r here after the world cup. India will lose games where he scores runs. Strike rate is low. Doesnt inspire confidence. Can't break shackles when needed. Is not a match winner.

Can't break shackles when needed. Is not a match winner. His strike rate is low as he is responsible for building the innings. Dhawan looses his wik very early and the job is up to him. But if he doesn't open he has a healthy strike rate.If nohit is back then he will replace rayadu in the middle order. Will not score big but will score enough.
sticky wicket Posted October 26, 2014 Posted October 26, 2014 I always feel he is a stop gap option, he is doing a decent job in both forms both not really selectors will bank on for long term...I.e. Selectors waiting for someone more technically sound and better temperament after the failures of Rohit Sharma and out of form Gambhir. When Murli Vijay made his int debut many thought he would definetly take over one half the opening slot, hopefully he has done well recently in Tests.

Man he(rahane) is even worse in the middle order. He should stick to test cricket and IPL only.
