You think shutting down companies is going to save his neck? If i was in his place i would move to a country which does not have a treaty with India to extract criminals. Modi is playing a cat and mouse game with Congress and Gandhis. He overtly is doing nothing but underneath he is slowly nailing all coffins in the gandhidom. And they know it as well but incapable of doing anything. A public inquisition would've given Cong a chance to cry "politics of vengeance/victimisation". Love BJP's approach where there has not been a single case like that. People like Manishankar Aiyer, Salman Kursheed etc were spewing venom after venom but they've been given the best treatment - completely ignored as if they're not even significant.

Afterwards it will be stale news. Remember how Boffors (a even bigger scam than vadra) happened? The BJP kept bringing it up and in the end the public got tired of it. Even Mr 10% in Pakistan came back to become president. Nobody is suggesting Vadra will be president. But sometimes you just need to lay low. Indians have become so desensitized to corruption that things are just forgotten.

And it isn't the age of Bofors, we are a much knowledgeable population now, and getting smarter and younger as well. Further, Rajiv Gandhi's assassination followed by a 5 yr Cong govt virtually killed all momentum in that case. The primary accuseds died shortly afterwards and really people moved on from it. Vadra's case is different. His self admittance and running away will directly implicate the Gandhi family, the national sentiment is still very strong against Congress and would just be the final killing blow to the party, taking away the Gandhis permanently with it. It is extremely hard to see how they can come back from such a situation.
