BTW this has nothing to do with comparing them as players....As a Rohit fan I will still say that Lara is a better batsman at this point of time...just an innings to innings perspective. Also different formats I know that but the similarities are that both are world record scores by elegant batsmen,relatively flat pitches etc. taking into account the end result,match awareness etc,what is a better knock?

Yep Laxman's 281 was definetely superior from a match perspective,but then again so was Gambhir's 97...I am comparing the 2 world records :--D

Nope he could have got them a consolation win...infact England were bowled out cheaply in the 1st innings...could have easily given WI more of a shot

Also Lara had played these bowlers for the whole series but Rohit was coming from an injury layoff and that too after playing in English conditions,he had to make adjustments to change in pitches(agreed it is home turf) and get the measure of the bowling team. It is not as easy as people make it out to be

Just check WI scores in their 2nd innings in the first 3 tests .Comical at best He needed to make sure WI wouldn't need to bat again otherwise Eng win wasn't out of the equation

test vs odi 400 vs 264 0 - 3 vs 3 - 0 hoggard, harmison, flintoff, jones vs kulasekara, mathews, perera, eranga also lara was under severe pressure before this match. basically no comparison.
