What happens in the video showing the Rohtak girls? In the video, that was played on a loop on TV channels, the two sisters - Aarti, 22 and Puja, 19 - could be seen thrashing three men. Using their belts and hands, the two sisters were seen attacking the men who, they claimed, had followed them inside from the bus stop. The girls claimed the three men - identified as Deepak, Mohit and Kuldeep - argued with them after they objected to them distributing their phone numbers at the bus stop. The sisters alleged that the youths first blew kisses at them and then threw slips with their mobile phone numbers towards them. When they objected, they made lewd gestures. The sisters said the bus stopped after some distance and the youths pushed them out and started hitting them. While one fell on the road, the other fell in a field. The video inside the bus was apparently shot by a pregnant woman, who the girls - both BSc final year students of Rohtak Government College - claimed was the only person to have shown them any support. How did the nation react to the story? Outrage and adulations soon followed. Haryana Chief Minister M L Khattar announced a cash reward and said the sisters will be honoured on Republic Day. The National Commission for Women praised the girls. Union Minister Uma Bharati said all girls should do what these sisters did. On the other side, the three men were arrested and remanded to judicial custody till December 6. The Indian Army said it will not recruit two of the three alleged molesters despite them reportedly clearing physical and medical tests to join the force. The driver and conductor of the bus were also suspended. The girls, meanwhile, were all over the TV, narrating their ordeal, as reporters crowded their home in Rohtak's Kharkhauda village. News anchors debated the pathetic state of women's safety in the country. Is there another version of the Rohtak incident? However, if certain reports are to be believed, the whole episode may well turn out to be only one side of the truth. A report published in The News Minute says it is possible the sisters were at fault and that the three men acted in self-defence, a claim not yet confirmed by the Haryana Police or other authorities. The claim of the three men is backed by a man called Govind K Singathia who posted a message on Janmat, a Facebook forum. Singathia claims that the girls were travelling in a bus which broke down and the driver moved them to another bus, in which the three alleged assaulters were already travelling. "These girls got on the bus and tried to sit in the seats with the same seat numbers from the bus that had broken down. They asked an old lady and one of the men to move from the seats which had their seat numbers. The boys then asked the old woman not to get up. But the girls persisted and troubled the old lady and she finally got up and sat on a discarded tyre in the bus. The girls then demanded the boy to get up and started cursing them to which the boys retaliated as well, cursing them equally. After the verbal argument between the girls and the boys, the girl handed her phone to another girl on the bus and asked her to make an mms of her teaching this boy a lesson. She then took out her belt and started hitting him. All the passengers tried to stop her. If it was really the boys fault, the passengers wouldn't have sat idle. This is Haryana. Not Delhi," the Facebook post says. In his post, Singathia further alleged that the old woman tried to file an FIR but the police turned her away. The residents of Kansla village in Rohtak, from where the three accused hail, have also served an ultimatum on the district administration to release the three boys within 24 hours. The residents alleged that a false FIR has been registered against the three and they have been falsely implicated. They also claimed that it was not a case of alleged molestation but a dispute over seats in the bus. Has a second video showing the Rohtak sisters emerged? In another twist to the tale, another video surfaced on Tuesday in which the same sisters are shown beating up a young man who allegedly harassed them in a public park in Mumbai. The sisters said the footage is a month old. When a TV channel asked them how both the incidents were shot just when they began hitting the men and that the videos show no context of the fights, Puja said anyone could have filmed it. "I am in the news so these videos are now coming out... These videos must have been shot by passers-by who might have been worried about my safety," she told the TV channel. So because it is Haryana ,males must be at fault.Btw there is live program going on IBN and there is not even a single eyewitness that is supporting girls story ,all passengers are supporting boys

In the same program, earlier a person from boys' village said we tell our girls to go straight to school/college, not to parks (referring to the second video). Plus what I expect from men from Haryana in general. These things prompted my above post. yeah, girls' case is very dodgy and should go in boys' favor from what I could gather from the program.

According to ABP news five eyewitness submitted affidavit in favour of boys ,at present the case is going in boys favour.How come no passenger is supporting girls?

The police should've investigated properly and it was the govt.'s job to ensure that the investigations were done properly. The biggest culprits, though, will be the girls and the media.......what is important though is that justice prevails in the end.......

The bus conductor, Labh Singh, and the driver of the bus were suspended after a video of the incident went viral. "I told them not to harass the girls, or else they would not even get bail," the bus conductor Labh Singh told NDTV today, adding, "I told one of the girls that if the men persisted I would take the bus to the police station." Arti and Pooja Kumar, aged 22 and 19, have been showered with praise since the video went viral - it shows them thrashing three men on a bus in their hometown of Rohtak. The sisters, using their belts and their hands, fought the men in the aisle while other passengers looked on. There has been national outrage that no one on the bus attempted to help the sisters, who will be honoured by the Haryana government. Labh Singh said it was unfair that he had been suspended as he did try and intervene when the women complained to him that the men were harassing them. The three men seen in the video - allegedly shot on a cellphone on Friday by a pregnant woman who was a passenger on the bus - have been arrested by the police. They were reportedly on their way to join the Army, which has reportedly indicated that their application might be rejected. The pregnant woman who is said to have shot the video has been inaccessible to the media. Another passenger, seen in the video, has reportedly stated in an affidavit to the Sation House Officer Sadar, Rohtak, that the men had not harassed the two young women. Yesterday, another video of the sisters emerged that shows them beating up a young man who allegedly harassed them in a public park. The footage is from a month ago.

Five women passengers travelling on the bus have claimed that the fight was over seats and had nothing to do with any molestation incident. The five passengers have testified before the police and have also informed the court about their version of the incident. According to local media reports, one of the witnesses, Bimla Devi, claimed that she had asked the boys to get tickets for them. "The two sisters were sitting on seat No. 8 which was allotted to an unwell woman passenger," Bimla said, adding, "when the boys asked the sisters to vacate the seat, the two refused and started fighting." Another villager Santosh claimed that the two sisters had a reputation to indulge in fights due to which passenger vehicles often refused to carry them. Another passenger on the bus Sama Kaur said, "I was returning from Rohtak after buying some clothes. There was a fight between the two groups over bus. There was no issue of molestation." Meanwhile, the three accused in the case Mohit, Kuldeep and Deepak have been released on bail. hhunaeh Posted December 3, 2014 Posted December 3, 2014 Jaipur: Fresh probe debunks bravery award winner’s kidnap bid claims A fresh probe has concluded that a 16-year-old Jaipur girl’s claim of fending off four kidnappers– an act which won her the national bravery award for 2013 – was concocted, police said on Wednesday Assistant commissioner of police Premdan said the reinvestigation “found the earlier investigation report to be true as none of the evidence corroborates the girl’s claims of a kidnapping bidâ€. The reinvestigation report assumes significance in view of the growing debate over two Rohtak sisters, hailed as bravehearts for fending off three alleged molesters in a Haryana bus. Like in the case of Jaipur girl Malaika Tak, there are now doubts over the Rohtak sisters’ claims with witnesses emerging to challenge their version. Malaika, a class XI student, was honoured with the prestigious Geeta Chopra Award on Republic Day this year for fighting and foiling an attempt by four persons to kidnap her in February, 2013. After the initial probe too police had debunked the girl’s claims which had prompted the Indian Council for Child Welfare (ICCW) to seek reinvestigation into the matter. The council, which had taken cognisance of an HT report, had also asked the Jaipur district collector to file a report in this regard. ICCW president Geeta Siddhartha had earlier told HT that Malaika was given the “benefit of doubt†pending re-investigation but added that action would be taken after getting the fresh report. However, no one from the ICCW was available for comments on Wednesday. Police sources said the fresh probe report is likely to be handed over to the ICCW “very soonâ€. In a report submitted to a local court in Jaipur in December last year, the police had said that the incident “did not occur†and the case as “falseâ€. The police relied on CCTV footage from a computer shop located near the spot where the alleged incident took place on February 15, 2013. “The CCTV images showed a biker approaching her and she had some altercation with him. There was no SUV and no kidnapping bid took place,†said a police officer on condition of anonymity. The police report, a copy of which is with HT, had named nine independent witnesses who denied the occurrence of the incident. Statements of the girl’s father Mukesh Tak and mother Nidhi were also mentioned in the report.
