Why has Dravid called him quick through the air ? Karn has a quick arm action but is usually slow through the air... around 82 kph.

Dont know about the speed guns.. but looking at the day 1 he looks quick

His arm action looks quick, not his deliveries.... even visually. Compare him to someone like Jadeja and you will know the difference.

Ashwin and jadeja have played enough international matches overseas, other than pitches in champions trophy which were more like Indian pitches , they have stunk in odis too, that does not mean Karn Sharma is going to be next Shane Warne. Unless you try you won't know David Warner was deemed unfit to play tests but he has scored 10 test hundreds on par with greatest Aussie batsmen.

Because playing at home isnt our problem. Whoever spinner you play will do the job at home on turning tracks. It is overseas bowling which needs to be sorted out.

I dont know why but same Karn Sharma used to be so consistent in IPL under huge pressure, the reason I had backed him because consistency is what makes you effective overseas and the same Karn Sharma showing so much inconsistency. He is trying to bowl too different. He needs to stick to his strength that is bowling straight and quickish.

In that case, we should stick with Ashwin. In home conditions, he is easily our most dangerous spinner, but outside of India he has consistently been horrible. I would like to see him work with Shane Warne about the mental side of the game.

Yes but in T20 the way you build up pressure is different. You bowl six different balls, keep the batsman guessing, and speed through your over. You do that with spinners for 6-8 overs and the whole game can change. In Tests you have to be prepared to bowl the same ball over and over again. Sometimes you might have to build up pressure for several overs, before you change it up with variation and catch the batsman off guard. The challenge is to be able to do that even in the face of counterattack The last time I saw an Indian bowler do that here was Ishant to Ponting back in 2008. That took nine overs of inswingers and angling to ball into his body before setting him up with the one that straightened. It seems like an eternity for the bowler but nine overs in the context of the whole Test is not much. That's the mental side of Test cricket. I don't think any Indian bowler could do that now.

You are comparing Perth to Adelaide. At Perth, you can get away with bad balls, but at Adelaide, there is no margin for error. It has been a graveyard for bowlers historically no matter how good a bowler you are. Steyn got 2 wickets in 24 overs last time he bowled first here.

Agree. But that is why it is important to choose the correct type of player in the first place.... so that he can be stuck with for a long time. Spinner with spin and accuracy Spinner with flipper and high accuracy Pacer with pace and decent accuracy Pacer with extreme pace . Pacer with movement and accuracy Batsman with good technique and decent strokeplay Batsmen with tremendous strokeplay. Etc, etc.
