vishalvirsingh Posted December 23, 2014 Posted December 23, 2014 Guys- i bet this guy has got the right talent as a fast bowler.. impressive things about him are... - Smooth Action - pace upto 142k with out any sheer effort on indian tracks - Swings at 140+...i saw him bowling with ZAheer khan and he was out bowling ZAK in that match,,, -has good Stamina but is a little raw at present. what he needs to improve on Pace- ideally he should come aroun 145k Swing- he has outswing but on some tracks his bowling does not swing Control- can have better control but he is definitely one of the best pace talent we have..he is definitely better then DHAWAL kulkarni, pankaj Singh , DInDa to name a few. what are your views ??

vishalvirsingh Posted December 23, 2014 Author Posted December 23, 2014 Mate vishalvirsingh - first write abt Varun Aaron that u were talking so much about? :D Varun has proven himself that he is the fastest and the brightest talent we have.. not me but all say so .. cant u notice that he got steven smith out atleast a couple of times( though a catch was dropped and once smith was LBW to aaron). aaron was sheer unlucky in this match too..watson gave the easiiest of catches and rahane missed a dolly...many more catches were missed off him... he bowled at an average of 142k ..thats just to fast ..even srinath and zaheer khan have never done that in their career... he will improve further - dont worry ..wait n watch.

rkt.india Posted December 23, 2014 Posted December 23, 2014 Shardul is still raw. He isn't really express but decent pace and is bowling well in Ranji trophy with two 6-fers in 3 games. Needs to get more consistent and better stamina wise. Needs to be drafted in India A after this season.

I dont think he is looking for a life in cricket only. His family is quite well to do. But if he wants to become serious about cricket needs to build stamina. Is a good fielder and a handy bat.

He has certainly improved and looks serious, if does not, would have fallen away 2 years back when he was a fat guy who was putting lots of effort trying to bowl quick but barely hitting 130-132, now 2 years later, he is far more leaner and fitter, also hitting 140K and swinging the ball. Control is still an issue though. He has not risen from conventional Mumbai cricket but was picked in a fast bowling talent hunt. His stamina will get better as he bowls more that is the only way to maintain good bowling fitness. He is a late bloomer, so, still need 1-2 years more in domestic cricket and A tours.

Yantra Posted December 23, 2014 Posted December 23, 2014 Agree with RKT that Thakur has became more leaner now compared to two years ago but still he needs to cut bit more of the fabs, looks like still get tired after bowling few overs and hence loose control otherwise fantastic prospect can bowl upto 130-140K and will swing the ball no matter how old it is, also good thing is a decent bat which so much needed in present Indian team.

And we all know where he ended !
