adi B Posted January 6, 2015 Posted January 6, 2015 41.6 is the sexiest SR for a fast bowler ever i think... there is a guy called Lohmann 112 Wickets in 18 games in 1886-1896 he and he alone has a better SR than steyn at 34.1 for pace bowlers with more than 100 wickets equalling steyn is Barnes who has taken 189 wickets in 27 games in 1901-1914 at 41.6 never cared about averages for bowlers, its always SR for me Avg does matter but strike rate is the most important criteria at least for me.guys having strike rate under 50 i.e 8 overs per wkt are truly special

MCGGG Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 Greatest Fast Bowler of ALL Time. I have never seen ANY bowler perform in ALL conditions and bring his A game every time when it's needed. In this eras flat batting tracks and rules favored towards the batsmen - for him to be as effective as he is is PHENOMENAL. The only other bowler who even comes close is Mitch Johnson but what Mitch did in his purple patch Dale Steyn has been doing for 8+ YEARS. Best. Of. ALL. Time. We are fortunate to see this guy in action. He's also bowling in an era of attacking batsmen who quite often get themselves out.
