Jumping out to a part time spinner and getting stumped/bowled looked a lot more stupid than getting out caught to a peach of a delivery. Works both ways. Make Dhoni and Raina open and they will average <20. Each position needs their specialists and everyone will fail sometimes ( especially in overseas/bowler friendly conditions) Stop comparing that joke of player with proven match winners like Raina , Dhoni or Virat . How did Rohit bcome a specialist opener ? Hes a bloody failure who got a promotion to open , clearly not for cricketing reasons . The guy has no technique & the reason hes scoring runs at top of the order is cos thats how easy it is opening these days . The same day Rohit hit a hundred , so did Amla , Rossouw & even finch got to 96 ..all openers . So stop telling that its difficult to open .
Old guy Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 Rahane tried to over attack after first two overs and Kohli did the same with word go.. They were playing in 20/20 mode instead of 50 overs.. Both played and got out with pre meditated shots.. This may be cuz they dont know what the target should be at this ground.. I bet if we were chasing the target, we would have seen different approach from both of them.. they should know that 4 RPO in first 10 overs is ok as long as you are playing sensibly and saving wickets.. yes.. thats exactly what i want .. they need to play though and trust in their ability that they can catch up at end ..the only series we won in australia was when top order batted through and got par scores instead of 300 + which we are used to at home ..

The same day, ABDV played finisher role and made 100 in 31 balls. So stop telling me that it is difficult to finish. Raina and Dhoni can't improvize. Why could they not go on their knee and paddle/sweep/reverse sweep/go inside out to Finn/Anderson and get India not 459 but maybe 380? Cuts both ways my friend. And cool down. You and I don't decide playing 11. We just discuss stuff.

Shameful Exactly the same for me except Yuvi and Gambhir. Uthappa should have been selected. Missed out as Rayudu got to play more in the series preceding the selection. Also will prefer Ishant in most cases over BK

A match where the fastest century was scored from the middle order- lots of toughness occurring to the pojishion!

Dhawan - Need a batsmen who can give is quick starts , dont have a choice but to take risk with him , Rahane has been huge dissapointment . I would rather have a batsmen get out early and let others rebuild an innings than some one how gives away a good start in every match . Virat - Has to bat at No 3 Rayudu - We dont have any one else & he should be ok playing in the middle overs not wasting any PP & plays spin well as well . Raina - Floater Dhoni - Last hope Binny - Better hitter than Jadeja Ashwin/ Jadeja - not sure between these two. Shami Ishant Yadav Thats my 11 Strange the player you spotted first and made a thread about on ICF not there. Bhuvi ? :D

Are you bleeping kidding me? Do you remember who was India's no.7 in the knockouts in WC 2011? Suresh Raina! And remember what he did? Helped us win the quarters against australia and semis against Pakistan. Can you imagine what would have happened if Axar Patel was our no.7 during those games in 2011. We have ZERO change to make any meaningful progress in the knockouts with such a slim batting line-up.

We have ZERO change to make any meaningful progress in the knockouts with such a slim batting line-up. rules have changed since then and we are not playing at home where part time spinner can fill in as all rounder so playing specialist batsman at 7 is not possible all i can say is lets not think about what would have happened as what if we played ashwin and what if he took 2-3 wickets and bowled at 4 rpo like he did in games he played ? lets not go there .. in last few years jadeja has been number 7 and he will be fit by world cup i guess .
Zestian Posted January 21, 2015 Posted January 21, 2015 My team & Line Up for the WC before Selection of WC team by our great selectors - Rohit Rahane Kohli Yuvraj Uthappa Raina Dhoni Binny Umesh Ishant Aaron Jadeja and Shami Might come in for Binny and Aaron But since I have never seen Jadeja Comfortable against Short Balls, and since Binny can swing the ball (With almost same pace as Bhuvi can) and bat a bit too, I would go for him. New Ball Pair could be Binny & Aaron/Umesh Now the quota of 5th bowler could easily be filled between - Yuvraj,Raina,Kohli & Rohit. Well now returning to the real world - My team & Line Up for the WC after Selection of WC team by our great selectors - Rohit Rahane Kohli Rayudu Raina Dhoni Jadeja Binny Umesh Shami Ishant

Let us assume a hypothetical line up as below SET1 : Rohit Dhawan Kohli Rahane SET2 Raina Dhoni Binny Jadeja SET3 Ashwin Ishant Shami Nicely put. But to achieve this, you need somebody like a Murali Vijay in Set 1, and not Hacker Dhawan
