Mariyam Posted January 25, 2015 Posted January 25, 2015 This is exactly what the Congis didn't want you to know before the elections (even after had they been elected). Why not? The increase in Muslim population as a % of the total is meagre. If the increase were stark, it would work in favour of the BJP and their fear mongering rhetoric about the Islamization of India. I can't understand why the Congress would hold this info back.
Mariyam Posted January 25, 2015 Posted January 25, 2015 Unless the disposable income of Muslims has increased proportionally (after adjusting for inflation)' date=' then yes, an 8 million increase in Muslim population is a problem.[/quote'] I genuinely do not understand your post. I presume the 8 million that you refer to is the increase in % share of population. If you translate that to 8 million births ( which you shouldn't) how can they have a disposable income? They would be in the 0-10 yr category. I'm lost.
Gollum Posted January 25, 2015 Posted January 25, 2015 Everybody should strive to control the population. Have lesser no of kids irrespective of religion or caste and try to give your children a better quality of life.
Kalia_Test Posted January 25, 2015 Posted January 25, 2015 Everybody should strive to control the population. We have seen how % of hindus in Islamic Pakistan has been reduced by over 90%. India should try to preserve its demographics. It is a nation's right.
Gollum Posted January 25, 2015 Posted January 25, 2015 I say implement 1 child policy for the next 40 years irrespective of religion or caste and see the progress our country makes.
sticky wicket Posted January 25, 2015 Posted January 25, 2015 I say implement 1 child policy for the next 40 years irrespective of religion or caste and see the progress our country makes. Wouldn't work in democracy like India, and besides it will only worsen the gender imbalance
Vilander Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 One cat at a time hey its a turkish angora, awesome cats. I had one in India, she was the best pet i have ever had, dog like. I have some respect for lal topi now.
Vilander Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 I think Indian mulsims are on par or slightly over with other Indians in population growth the border states with BD have more increase which is skewing the national average, this is becase of illegal immigration. one is sociao economic condition of muslims which needs some urgent attention next is this illegal immigration, have a visa drive and give some revenue to BD govt as well. This can be managed.

Do you have a better explanation? Religious data, as you now know, was captured as part of the census. All results were compiled by 2013 and publicly shared. Many different categories were tabled and reported on, including education level by gender, rural vs urban population, etc. However, the results were silent on religion wise demographics and decadal growth rate for each religion. For details on to what extent Congress went to "adjust" figures, read the article on the hyperlink below to see how they shamelessly attempted to hide the truth. http://www.quora.com/Why-has-the-data-on-the-religious-demographics-from-Indias-2011-census-not-been-released
Precambrian Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 The gun thing to note is that in a "developed" state like Kerala, muslim population has gone up by 2% without pressures from immigration etc.

My thoughts are: If the Muslim population increase as a % was huge, I can understand why the Congress didn't release the numbers. For the fear of the BJP cashing in on a fear mongering them vs us campaign. But the decadal increase in only 0.8% share. That's not much for the BJP to crow about. Why should the Congress hide numbers which are aligned to what is apparently their view. That I can't understand.

Mariyam Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 Because Hindu % is reduced. While I may not be a maths whiz, if Muslim population has grown by 0.8% share, then all the others have to decline in total by 0.8% share. It has to be a zero sum game. Right? According to you, is this an alarming increase? Do you have any other explanation then? No I don't. Hey, but you made the claim that the Congress fudged the numbers. I'm saying, given how the numbers turned out, it doesn't make much sense. So the onus is on you to back your claim.

But with all the minority appeasement of Con party over so many years they will be apprehensive of any small change. They are even asking recently whether party is Anti Hindu. PS: I guess the increase is mostly due to Bangladeshi Muslims suddenly became Indian Muslims.
Texan Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 No I don't. Hey, but you made the claim that the Congress fudged the numbers. I'm saying, given how the numbers turned out, it doesn't make much sense. So the onus is on you to back your claim. No ma'am. You disagreed with my explanation on why Congress wanted to hide these details. So, you might have a better explanation on why these figures were not reported on earlier. Do you? If not, then perhaps my explanation holds true. And it is not just the 0.8% change, but also the fact that the Hindu population has fallen below the psychological mark of 80%. Congress did not want to add to their increasing perception of being anti-Hindu by telling the whole of India that yes, Hindus as a percentage of the population are in a secular decline while on the contrary Muslims as a percentage of population are on a secular increase.
Precambrian Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 And also the survey merely takes into account religion based on accident of birth and not of choice. A big % of hindus are not strict religionists... I for myself consider a hindu, but hardly go to temples, or light diya at house. Many of them are atheists, agnostics, deists etc.
