zen Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 Recently, I got reintroduced to fountain pens and found that writing with them is such a joy, esp. a good nib, with nice ink, on a smooth paper (such as Rhodia). Please share your favorite fountain pens, inks, papers and wishlist. I have started with a couple of inks - Iroshizuku Shin Kai (Deep Sea - Blue) and Herbin's Poussiere du Luna (Moondust - Purple). Both of them are magnificent inks. I also ordered a few sample inks and eventually made my own colors. Because of fountain pens, I am looking for reasons to write / doodle :--D Currently, I am using regular pens such as TWSBI 580 (with medium and stub nibs). Detonator Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 Most if the times i use hero pen and i love it. They are the ones which are well suited for fast writing, esp in.exams. I have these 2 identical pens which i m for the last 5 years and they are still good. starting from10th public exam, i pretty much wrote every exams using these. just cost 45 rs each i ve a lot of parker pens, most of them gifted. they are good, but they are useless for exams. The paper quality here in govt colleges are the crappiest u ll ever see. I have a couple of pelikan pens, but the ink empties pretty quickly and the refills are damn expensive. also a garf faber castle which i never opened. just waiting for some special moment.

Used to get so many of them. Then i liked this one called schaeffer (or sth similar too). My dad once gifted me a cross But ever since i moved to IB the usage became less and in the US its non existent

I also used to have Parker pens but still Hero was my favorite. +1 In School we were forced to write with fountain pen for class 5 to 7 students. Thats the basic necessity for a good handwriting.

May be you could try injecting the cartridges with your favorite bottled ink. That could make the cartridges reusable :dontknow: PS Other ways to use bottled ink would be a) Pelikan or compatible converter, and b) if the pen does not have metal threads, a possibility to convert it in to an eyedropper

Eyedropper and bulb/lever filling pens could leak in flights. Pens with cartridges, converters, and piston filling system may have a better chance of not leaking .... Companies like Visconti offer a double reservoir filling system which transfers ink from one reservoir to another. The reservoir near the nib can be closed to prevent leaking during flights as shown below: DLEh-x-X5hs

That could make the cartridges reusable :dontknow: I tried, seems like pelicans dislike other inks. their ink is kind of extra oily than others. if i use other inks like camilin or chelpark, i get a wierd scratching sounds while writing. so i kept it safe to not ruin it. so much for a 500 rs pen.
