Batting first could help from the perspective of no pressure of RRR. If batting first, I would say just play the 30 overs w/o losing too many wkts, and then do a T20 in the last 20 overs. Also we need to use the batting PP wisely - for example, we can take it early to upset the calculation of bowling changes. SA will be forced to use their best bowlers early, which means lesser bowlers will have to bowl more overs in the last 10-12 overs. We can try to score at 6 an over w/o losing wkts in batting PP (and not go wild like we tried to do in our last WC encounter in 2011) When it comes to bowling, if the conditions favor spin, go with an extra spinner. Don't hesitate in using Ashwin or Axar as the first change bowler.

Lol, we faced the "feared" SA attack in tests and ODIs in SA not long ago, they got wasted, and their so called feared batsmen folded like a wet paper bag against our attack. This current Australian team is possibly the most brutal side ever seen, I rate it higher than our 2003 side, their batting firepower is unheard of and their bowling attack is right up there, their the best fielding team in the world and probably the best at running between wkts. And it's played on their turf. :giggle: Good luck.....

Steyn wasn't that lethal as well. The lack of intensity could be attributed to the perception of the opposition by the SA bowlers but still it was a WC match..... If the ball doesn't swing for long periods and if we don't lose wickets early on, I don't fear this attack.Surviving the new ball is crucial for us.

There is a problem with SA bowling attack.. they dont have 4th and 5th bowler.. unless they play Parnell.. IMO, strategy should be to survive first 10 overs and then milk them in rest of the innings.
