Yes, it has definitely helped associates. Usually the weaker teams suffer in the batting department more than bowling. Most upsets are caused by bad batting of the stronger team than due to better batting by associates. But this WC is an exception till now.

Pitches will be flat but they have good pace and bounce and have some assistance for seamers unlike pitches in SC. As far as swing is concerned, it depends mostly on the conditions than anything the curator can do. For instance, the ball swings more in certain grounds in NZ than other grounds in Australia, sometimes it swings under lights, sometimes when there is cloud cover etc. There is no exact science behind it. As tournament goes on, the pitches will have more wear and tear and spinners might come in to play. If knock out games are played on fresh pitches, they wont help spinners much.

PBN Posted February 26, 2015 Posted February 26, 2015 The first 10 or so overs have something in it for the bowlers in almost all of the matches. That's why the go to strategy batting has been to conserve wickets early on and then go on to score big scores.
