Threads like these makes me think that the NRIs here have learnt nothing from living in societies such as the US/Canada/Europe where strong social law and order is enforced. Maybe what India needs, is less chest-thumping on Rafales and INS Vikramadityas and a bigger budget for our judicial process. +1 In overpopulated countries where resources are less situation is going to be like this

Terrorism/spying against a nation/sedition, etc. are ALL seen as the greatest of crime because in the eyes of the law (any law), nation/state > individual. It is noted amongst criminologists that the only deterrence that works against criminals that are not clinically insane, is a high probability of being caught, not the severity of punishment. Ie, a system where punishement can be simple incarceration (jail term) but say catches 99% criminals, is actually a greater deterrent to criminals than system where the criminals are ground into mincemeat alive but catches only 50% of the criminals. It is a common fallacy that 'if i make a big scary example of one individual, it will deter all like-minded people from doing the deed'. When in fact, the criminal mind doesn't give a damn if you are going to pour boiling oil into all his orifices IF he gets caught- if the criminal thinks their chances of 'getting away with it' are good enough, they will commit the crime. May be you are right. :nice:

He was falsely accused according to Nagaland govt, so an innocent is killed by them.

Absolutely agree with other parts, but Indian armed forces defence procurements are not a matter of 'chest-thumping'. You normally are not one who tries to be fashionable and faux-insightful-which comes across as deep-thinking, so its surprising to get this from you..may be a slight on your part.

I have repeated this point again and again. Some people will still chose to be ignorant and repeat the point, but, but torturing criminals and killing them is a deterrent. This has never happened in the history of the world
