bulbul Posted March 7, 2015 Posted March 7, 2015 Absolutely no need to rest players. Enough rest days already in between. This is a world cup not kitply cup to rest players. Unless of course a player is suffering from niggles and continued exposure can cause breakdown. Forced rest can make a player lose his rhythm. Shami' date=' Yadav all are in good rhythm and don't want to lose those. Further both Zim and Ire are playing good cricket overall and the last thing India would want going into knockouts would be an embarrassment.[/quote'] But we can rest Rohit Sharma. :giggle:
Precambrian Posted March 7, 2015 Posted March 7, 2015 The question isn't resting players for rest sake. It is about unnecessarily risking Dhoni shami and kohli etc when they can get injured. Ie does getting more practice (cause that's what the next two matches are) trump the risk of injury? Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk You cannot plan for out of the blue injuries really and not make them play cricket. That's just against the whole spirit of sport really. As I said before, obvious issues like niggles must be given due importance. What if they get injured in the knockouts?
Shivaji bhonsle Posted March 7, 2015 Posted March 7, 2015 The bench warmers can keep warming the bench: Msd. Lol. When asked about giving chances to bench strength.

Im saying here round robin where India has no bearing on its placement no longer the next two games are absolutely meaningless. Its not against the spirit of sport. Football teams do this in their 3rd game in round robin if they are through to the next round as well in NBA NHL NFL players are rested before playoffs start if no bearing on their seeding. Why risk Dhoni, Shami, Kohli and Ashwin who are necessary in every knockout game getting injured? Why risk it?
adi B Posted March 7, 2015 Posted March 7, 2015 No need for any rest, finally nohit gets a chance to even out his failures and here we are talking about resting some players!! Nohit vehemently says no :giggle:
adi B Posted March 7, 2015 Posted March 7, 2015 Axar or Binny might be tried but the pace need to play as many games as possible,we don't want them to lose their rhythm.
coffee_rules Posted March 7, 2015 Posted March 7, 2015 India can play Binny against Zim. No need to take risk agaist Ireland. We need to win against Ire to stay on top and get to play the 4th ranked team on A. We can only afford to lose one game. With Binny in place of Jadeja , we can still win against Zim
GrandMasterSaxy Posted March 8, 2015 Posted March 8, 2015 Yes....rest few or the mainstream players and let Ireland win the game (eventually kicking Pakistan out of the league).

Why did they not rest players earlier then? Where there is a higher chance of injury happening against SA and Pak, knowing very well they can win against these guys and guarantee a QF berth? See the "logic" can be stretched both ways. Why not decline to play these matches at all citing that players might be at risk of getting caught in an earthquake or tsunami? Or decline to fly on planes across the ditch since you know planes can be dangerous? Risks are there for each and everything. Its outright stupid to "anticipate" them and not play totally fit players.

tweaker Posted March 8, 2015 Posted March 8, 2015 The team management should try out the players in the squad in the 2 matches against Ireland & Zimbabwe. But knowing Dhoni,he will not make any changes in the squad
bowl_out Posted March 8, 2015 Posted March 8, 2015 Binny will play in NZ... not sure in place of whom
Number Posted March 8, 2015 Posted March 8, 2015 Such a shame that before quarters at MCG we'll be wandering in Kiwiland playing inconsequential minnow games.

All your silly sarcastic comments are required risks such as travelling to the match. I'm referring to avoidable risks. Please explain how they can avoid transportation to a venue. Its common sense its what a lot of professionals do in all sports where they have their round robin sewn up. Give one reason for Dhoni to play both games.
zen Posted March 8, 2015 Posted March 8, 2015 Looking at how the games are going - Ind needs a strong 5th bowler 3 pacers + 2 spinners have worked for us. The spinners could be useful when playing at big grounds such as MCG & SCG, but if Jadeja is not batting well and scoring 15 - 20 runs, Ind may have to consider just playing a bowler who can pick up wkts rather than a player who is neither here nor there. Hopefully Jadeja will improve
profster Posted March 8, 2015 Posted March 8, 2015 Unless there is a niggle, why would you rest anyone? There is no substitute to match time. Risk of injury in the future without a niggle/issue in the present is not how sports management works. If that was the case, Messi would be coming off after the match is secured in every Barca game. Doesn't mean he is never rested nor tactically substituted, just that you can't be hyper worried about injuries to break the rhythm of a player.

Messi doesn't get substituted becoz both him and Ronaldo r obsessed with their goals competition and will whinge massively if substituted. If resting is not needed why do u think Rakitic was rested today?
govinda Posted March 8, 2015 Posted March 8, 2015 should drop lord nohit sharma and get binny atlest binny gives team extra bowling optian

If resting is not needed why do u think Rakitic was rested today? Don't you think that would equally apply to our players? Shami and Umesh might want to pick up a 5-fer each against Zim and Ireland. I am not against resting per se but resting for the sake of resting might be counterproductive. With long breaks between India games (thanks to Srini mama) our players have a easy schedule.
